I repeated the list as part of my last post (which was a reply to DVB Cornwall's post), as it was easier to show my list again rather than say "the celebs I said I hoped for - see list on page 1", with hyperlink to it.

Easier for who? Repeated to what end?

Everyone reading this page.

Seriously Mr Tower - no one is particularly bothered about what you would like to see; and I am unanimous in that.

I was just saying that I was disappointed that none of the celebs I said, back along, I'd like to see in this year's Strictly Come Dancing are in it. Did anyone else have a favourite celeb they wanted to see in this year's SCD, and are equally disappointed he/she is not taking part this year?

Yes. I wanted BIG MOIRA.

Do you mean Moira Stuart (former BBC TV newsreader)?

I am aghast that you even had to ask!

As can be seen in this clip, Moira performs very well on the stage and has an amazing voice, as can be seen alongside Dame Edna here:

I saw last Saturday's "welcome" show on video Monday evening, and was surprised to see the paring done in-vision for the first time ever.

You shouldn't have been - that was the much publicised point in the show.

The set looks a lot better, though the actual dancefloor looks pretty small too me. I'm not sure though the line up or set changes will be enough to bring in viewers from outside the usual Strictly club - it's still a pretty exclusive show, and like many formats the BBC has or create, still very BBC compared to foreign versions. The show basically takes itself far too seriously to be more inclusive for a wider audience.

It does, doesn't it. Both, I mean. I like the use of the extended LED video on the proscenium arch, running down on to the floor with moving video projection. Dance floor does look small, but then, when they shoot at particular angles the place either looks huge or teeny-tiny; but it does each year.

Its incredibly well loved by its loyal (and fair sized) audience though - and approval counts for more than packing them in the aisles - in my view anyway.

Well no, that's cobblers. Wink

By the end of the journey everyone gushes about how special the experience is, and how much they've grown and learned, how they now love dancing and want to keep it part of their lives. That's not fakery, and there's nothing non-inclusive or po-faced about it.

But in fairness if you don't like this type of show you're not going to be persuaded by minor tweaks in any direction; and the show's been running long enough to capture all its potential fans by now.

I think its fab.

Exactly Gavin. I wouldn't say I'm a hater but it's just not for me and whenever I've seen it I've just never been able to get into it, unlike Dancing on Ice for example which I personally find much more accessible.

Oooh I *love love love* that show too.

Holy smokes, Brekkie, we're dangerously close to that common ground again. Wink

Tina O'Brien is sitting this week's show out because of chicken pox. Because of the rules, if she doesn't appear on next week's show, she'll be out of the competition. Unfair rule, but let's hope she recovers soon enough.

I've just got round to watching last Sunday's results show on video (I watched last Saturday's main show yesterday evening). Here is the somewhat unusual order in which the 14 couples learned their fate:

Seven minutes into the show, just five couples were announced:

Definitely Through:
Patsy & Robin
Michelle & Brendan
Pamela & James
Jimi & Flavia

Bottom Two
Peter & Erin

The remaining nine couples had to wait a bit longer to learn their fate, whilst the Strictly Showdancers performed the quickstep.

Out of the remaining nine couples, the following four couples were announced:

Definitely Through:
Tina & Jared
Scott & Natalie
Gavin & Katya
Matt & Aliona

The remaining five couples had to wait a bit longer to learn their fate, whilst Robbie Williams sang "Rock DJ".

The remaining five couples finally learned their fate:

Definitely Through:
Felicity & Vincent
Kara & Artem
Paul & Ola

Bottom Two: Goldie & Kristina

Definitely Through: Ann & Anton

Finally they announced which of the bottom two (Peter & Erin, Goldie & Kristina) was to leave:

OUT: Goldie & Kristina
Through: Peter & Erin

What an odd way of announcing them. Couldn't they have had it like this?
Review of weeks 1 & 2
Quickstep by the show dancers
Robbie Williams
Announced the names of the 12 couples definitely through
Pause whilst they announced which of the remaining two was out (and which was through)

Quite frankly, they really have dragged out the announcement process this time.

Almost as dragged out as your posts Tumble Tower.

I'd say it is quite fair actually and seems to be the unofficial standard for reality talent shows, where a bye is permitted for missing one week due to exceptional circumstances, but not for a second week.
