I certainly agree with that sentiment! At least it's a bit of homegrown entertainment that's different from the usual gameshows.
I was a fan of the "old" Come Dancing and I wish it could make a comeback , without needing to add "Celebs" and public voting into the mix. It was a great show, with some nice Big Band music and a good compromise between the competitive element and the entertainment.
I think David Jacobs was the host when I first started watching it. (probably about 1981 or 82)

But not that different, it could be renamed Celebrity Dance Idol or Celebrity Dance Academy really. It's even got the panel, with Simon Cowell style put downs, phone vote and an "extra" show on BBC3. Just substitute dancing for singing and there you have it.
Caught a Tess Daly ITV1 ident this afternoon, although I'm bemused as to why they are playing that one out, as far as I'm aware she has nothing on ITV1 at the moment. People will just think, "Oh look it's her off that celebrity dancing show on BBC One", can't think why ITV would want to give the show some promotion of it's own.
