A recent edition on STV is " Club Cupid " which is like a downmarket version of the Night Time " God's Gift ". It was on last year, presented from Dundee's Apex Hotel and had comedian Des Clarke and Michelle Watt ( of price drop tv fame ) presenting.

I really can't do this programme justice by describing how tacky it is. One round involves the contestant being chatted up down the phone by members of the opposite sex in the same hotel, and him / her choosing which were the best.

Actually this reminds me of another programme in which men / women were behind a screen and had to strip down while the frontman ( Bryan Burnett i think ) shouted out " Songs by Queen! " and then the teams had to sing as many Queen ( or variant ) songs as they could. Another male v female type show by Scottish. It was called Party Animals and aired in about 2005. Again another show reminiscent of the ITV God's Gift / Carnal Knowledge era.

David Sneddon who later won Fame Academy presented a children's programme shown on STV / Grampian, but can't remember what it was called.

Two great arguments against an independent Scotland: The Golden Cagoule and Caledonian MacBrains on BBC Scotland.

The first was a general knowledge quiz with celebs being ... not very funny at all. The winner climbed some stairs and won a golden cagoule. Very odd.

And the latter, a pun on the ferry service Caledonian MacBrayne, is a Scottish version of Have I Got News For You. Except it wasn't remotely funny.

I also remember the wonder of seeing some of Grampian's output when Scottish bought them over. It was almost as if they were trying to demonstrate why things had to change, when in reality they were just trying to get a shared schedule between the two stations. Top Club was a notable favourite - possibly the most low budget quiz show on earth.

Grampian also made " Living and Growing " , a sex education programme, which more bizarrely was accompanied by " Living and Growing for Adults " around about 11pm, in which adults discussed the contents of the programme.

The name " Living and Growing " was carried on into the 4Learning era, but was not produced by Grampian.
