This thread is to discuss the strangest regional programmes on ITV and BBC both now and in the past. The only " rule " if you like is that the programmes that are written about in this thread were never networked.

My starter, although strange was actually quite good for Grampian...it was shown on Saturday mornings during the summer just before No 73 ( i think! ) and was called Bits and Pieces. It was strange in a sense for Grampian because for the time it was quite modern..!

The programme was about computers and hardware including a section on problems with the " doctor " who had his own slot introduced by a short sting of the Thompson Twins' " Doctor Doctor ". Smile
GB
GavBelfast
Ulster Television's classic 'Build Your Own Boat' from the late 1970s.

Why???

That brings back memeories. I appeared in one of those shows. It was hosted by Bobby Hain now MD of STV! Did it go out network or even Scotland or was it purely local.

Grampian often and does still do things that were pretty high tech. It was the first ITV station to use remote control camera's in remote studios. Was it the first one to have a 3D animated CG ident ? And more recently the first one to have desktop editing for and ITV regional news show.
