I'm sure Noel had a show in between the Breakfast show and NHP, that this show didn't mention. (not telly addicts which they also didn't mention)

Also the BBC1 globe they used with the anno about the cancellation of TLLBS was about 10 years off, the real anno with the COW globe was seen on "The Curse of Noel Edmonds"

Indeed, the Noel Edmonds Saturday Roadshow. Not so different from NHP but set in a different place each week - ISTR a space launch type set one week, a circus (I *think*) - all kinds of places which must have kept the set designers pretty busy Smile

As I remember he had a show called Lucky Numbers which was his first foray into prime time.I don't remember much of it except it involved telephone numbers.

They also left out The Time Of Your Life which actually was his highest rated show getting 17 million people.

Mike Smith still has a lot of respect and admiration for Noel Edmonds doesn't he? It's a shame their working relationship ended the way it did.

And did you notice that in the very first series Swap Shop didn't have that famous telephone number that we all remember?

I thought I'd seen the actual clip somewhere on the net (TV Ark?) but I can't find it but yes, even though it was just for demonstration of the announcement, it was a bit of lazy research.

Haven't watched back all the show yet but nice to see some NHP clips from the early days. The Mike Smith stuff was very interesting - falling out because of 'the incident' seems a bit odd unless Noel told him that it would be impossible for them both to work together again?

Was the actual wording correct? That was one bloody weird, very poor piece of "re-creation". It makes me wonder what else in the show was faked.

The one used in 'The Curse Of...' was a very ropy VHS recording of BBC Scotland. The BBC don't keep much of their presentation.

Incidently a while back a former colleague of mine took out a VHS of The Late Late Breakfast Show from the BBC library. It was very diffrent to what I remembered of it and totally diffrent from his later saturday night shows. Sent a shiver up my spine at the end when it turned out that it was what turned out to be the last show!

The Late Late Breakfast Show was a great programme I used to love The Golden Egg Awards, Mr Puniverse, jumping in and out of your y-fronts. Great stuff!! But Noel should have stopped the Give It A Whirl feature after the first major accident which I think was shown last night.

I also remember the last show I think the Liverpool football team were on it and I was speaking to Michael Lush on the phone saying that he'd been selected. Shocked

A lot of shows do that. It's usually the producers being cheapskates and using the VHS preview tapes rather than paying for the transfer to a broadcast format.

Not necessarily, it's also done when broadcasters/production companies don't/can't give them permission to use the clips. Or, like the continuity mentioned above when the broadcaster doesn't have a copy

In the former case it is normally justified under the part of the copyright laws regarding critical review. So if I was making a programme that was being critical about someone they might well refuse to allow me to use footage of them.... but I can use a small clip from another source.

Old adverts are normally sourced from VHS as tracking down the originals can be difficult, if not impossible

It was a very odd mish-mash of items, totally of it's time... looks a very clunky format now.

Yes the Liverpool team were on it, hot foot from playing QPR (which of course is next door to TV Centre) - IIRC one of the players was a victim of 'The Hit Squad'. There was quite a bit of stuff being promoted as being in the next show which of course never happened

Do you mean that *you* were on the phone to Michael Lush? Shocked

No I meant that Noel was on the phone to Michael Lush in the show and we realise now that, THAT moment sealed the poor gentleman's fate. I will say that some of the Give It A Whirl's they did were great to watch but they were far too dangerous for somebody to do after a week's training. Only professionals should have done some of those stunts.

There were stories in newspapers at the time when Noel visited the guy that had the crash in hospital, he should have stopped that feaure after the first serious accident.
