They're not having a summer break anymore.
Are they showing new episodes then - thought they'd be in repeats for the summer by now, especially during the Olympics.

I don't know if it's just my telly or my satellite box (which is upscaling) but it seems to have a problem keeping the video smooth on any shot with the mugs in. It's the same thing it does on anything, sometimes, when it seems like it can't tell that it's interlaced, or it's deinterlacing the fields in the wrong order, but it's normally much quicker at recovering. The whole final shot is juddering around even though there's a lot of movement and scrolling credits which would normally kick my telly into line.
Anyone got a full res grab of any part of this episode? I'd be curious to know if there's anything wrong with it.
Watching on 4/7.

I think Channel 4 has a problem with interlaced video, strong reds used to cause it to flick into film mode, and credit shrinks still do. Annoying.

... Not worth a separate post, but what happened to the tech to produce individually tailored pitchside adverts during games for different markets on television, that was being developed a few years ago?
JO
I would guess that could be done using the same technology we see in the Olympics giving us certain information such as lane positions, so I'd hazard a guess that there hasn't been the demand for it to be implemented.

It exists. It's been used in baseball for at least five years. A green-screen advert hoarding behind the batter's box allows for different adverts to be placed on it during different innings / different batters.
This is particularly useful as up to three broadcasters could be covering the game at any one time - home team market, away team market and national. Also MLB International could be covering it (especially postseason games).

The proposed system was far more complex that tnat ... enabling an entirely different carousel of ADS replacing the stafium pitch side LEDS. Ads for products forbidden in the home territory (Alcohol / Tobacco for example) to be inserted for overseas viewing on TV.
Anyway lets not detract from the DoND matter in hand.

Looks as if the same technology is in use right now, on the England v Italy match on ITV 1
The advertising boards around the pitch, are having moving ads 'keyed' on them. The super-slow reply cams are not, so confusingly the 'real' ads on the boards can be seen during replays!
It's the Host Broadcaster doing it I presume, under the instruction of who I wonder ?
Edit: Just ceased 30 mins into the match

Seem to be back on again now. Anyone know how they can key them when there are already real ads there, and not a plain colour background? Is it all done by tracking or are the camera orientations measured, or something?
