I guess there are a number of reasons for this, but it does seem like a waste of resources.  However, the BBC would have to show it on BBC1 for analogue viewers, secondly what use would BBC Parliament be if it didn't actually screen the State Opening of Parliament, so it goes on there too.  It would be crazy for BBC News 24 to be doing something else when this was the biggest event of the day, and Sky News were doing it also, so News 24 get in on the act too.  It does seem to limit choice, but this is the ridiculous situation the BBC find themselves in, maintaining the commitment as a public service broadcaster in a multi-channel age.

In the ad, it said that just BBC One and BBC Radio Five were covering the event, but in the end FOUR BBC services ended up promoting the event!

Was it me, but at the end of the programme, it felt like I was watching a shopping channel, are the BBC suppose to be promoting Parliamentry tours?
