Just a quick question about the live final, did it come from the London Studios or the Granada Manchester studios?

I think they need to change the format of the show as well and have the viewers voting every week rather than the audience. The audience vote is pointless especially as the person who won the overall series was the one the viewers voted for anyway.

Yes, but is the difficulty not that the programmes shown during the previous weeks are not live, and so therefore the vote cannot be done?

It could, the show could be recorded in advanced and all that is needed live is a 30 min results show.

Who won? I turned over for the final an hour too late. Evil or Very Mad

Does anyone know how far in advance they film it, I assume its filmed during the week its broadcast on the Saturday night?

Maybe they cant do too many live shows on a Saturday night, they already do Ant and Dec's Takeaway live.

That would turn it into another Pop Idol style audience voting show which Stars in their Eyes has never been

It's filmed at 'The Manchester Studios' or Granada as its more commonly known

Can't people watch shows without wanting to vote? What do you get out of voting for people you don't know or care about?

Its not that I want to vote, i didnt vote in last nights final. I just think it would be better if it was voted by the public every week rather than the audience, at the end of the day the runner up with the most votes won the entire thing not someone the audience voted in each of the heats.

Thought it was but why dont they put a Granada Manchester production on the endcap, instead we get "A Granada Production" which implies its not make in Manchester.

The Elvis soundalike won, Celine Dion came second and Phil Collins third.

The total number of votes were way down, the winner only received about 84,000 votes.

I didn't even realize it was last night. I remember when the 'Star's' final used to be an event. The show has gone the same way as Blind Date. It is was past it's sell by date.

Can't see it lasting much longer. Caught the results briefly and the winner got something like 80,000 votes. In the late-90s it was Stars in Their Eyes which always set the records for tele-voting with something like a million votes!

It would be a shame to see it go even from the perspective of its production values - they're outstanding
Particularly like the way they always tilt the head of the jib-arm camera to generate a floating effect above, rather than keeping it level - something of a Stars trademark Smile

Also very impressive is something you see very rarely on the show - when all the lights illuminating the pieces of set go down, and you see that all the pieces are translucent when the millions of cyc starlights shine through the set, as well as where there's no set infront - just spectacular!
High quality studio productions are becoming an increasingly rare breed now. Stars has always set music performance prod standards, long may its legacy live even if it dies a death after the next season.
