Its still made in Manchester. They have never said Granada Manchester on the endcap though.

The Stars in Their Eyes Kids Final last week and the Celebrity Special unusually came from BBC TV Centre in London.

I believe this was due to a small amount of Asbestos being found in a Studio at Granada in Manchester and thus putting it out of use, which meant recent Stars In Their Eyes have been produced at the BBC and the new version of Bullseye being made at Yorkshire rather than Granada.

Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes was recorded at BBC TV Centre in London, yet Charlene Tilton's VT insert shown before she
appeared in the studion was recorded at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester. So, if a Manchester hotel was used as a
location for one of the VT inserts, then how this editon of Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes wasn't made at Granada?

And how long can it take to find and remove asbestos from a TV studio?

Have you ever tried getting hold of specialist workmen at short notice?

Asbestos can take weeks to get rid of. I remember my old school had it and we were sent home for 3 weeks.

I don't think Saturday nights edition with Jade Goody was from TV Centre. It seemed like it was in the Manchester studio. I remember that tickets were available at the same time for the Kids final and one celebrity special that was filmed on the 16th at the BBC before the live show on the 18th. The show from the BBC would look slightly different. The Kids Live final had several differant camera shots that highlighted the show was in a different facility than usual too. Saturdays edition was recorded in Manchester I would say.

Asbestos is very nasty stuff. One decent lungful of the fibres and you can look forward to a seriously unhealthy future.

So, discover asbestos in your studio....then:

Clear and secure the area, notify local council (plus H&S Esec if you think anyone may have been exposed), call in specialists to confirm findings and check other rooms plus associated plant (aircon, electric conduits etc) to see if there's any asbestos there. Book asbestos removal contractors, wait for them to carry out risk assessment to confirm they can do the removal safely without having to evacuate the whole building. Have plans approved by local council. Give contractors the go-ahead. You get the picture: weeks can go by before any removal work actually begins!

So maybe thats why they didnt do the same ending for the childrens one because it would have been a different studio, different green room, therefore shattering the dream. Thats how some might see it

There was a small amount of Asbestos found at out Sixth Form building, when they were doing it up, and the whole place was sealed off to Students for some time and the renovation of the building was delayed for about 3 or 4 months.
