No I'm in scotland and our regional station is Grampian TV but we still get the hearts and everything. But they've only just appeared over the last few months.
I think standardisation is a good thing. I mean who doesn't like the BBC news theme. My site has a lot of standardisation and all feature the same page layouts, rufly the same colours and more.

Erm..so what happened to the blue box with various blurry backgrounds (to be covered at TV Home this summer) with the word Grampian (in the same style as Scottish)??

Asa, going off the subject a little, but what are the top 10 websites you go on? They don not have to be TV related.
Back on the subject (ish) Cant wait until update Asa!

the blue box is still there. sometimes during adverts we get the hearts and after programmes we get it on the right of the screen.

Ah, well I'm not sure I have 10 top ones really!
Obviously there's the forum then TV Room / TV World / TV Ark / TV Archive etc..
Then there's DigitalSpy, BBC Football site, Net4Nowt, Waveguide. Oh, and I use the Yahoo! search engine.

I think that the standardisation is a good thing, particularly in this day and age of channels competing for ratings against one another, and there has to be a coherent look which helps to keep viewers watching that channel.

I think it is good that the BBC has rebranded all the local news programme under one brand.
Midlands Today have a much better studio than they had in the squashed patchwork 'we nicked that from Central' look but it is a shame to watch another regional news programme on BBC ONE and the only difference being the news & presenters.
Talking of Central, bring back the 97/98 look. That was fab! It has a great studio and a nice big screen behind the presenters. Please, lets at least try with Central News West!!! It is the largest of the Carlton Central regions.
I used to watch it more than Midlands Today but now they only have Bob Warman anchoring and Joanne Malin doing the news roundup. (usually) Can't we have 2 presenters back properly? Lately though, they have been dropping the actual studio in favour of a virtual studio with virtual screen, at least it looks like they have a bigger studio!

Nigel Jay does this on North West Today during the Breakfast bulletin, it doesn't look tacky there, but it is quite annoying, as he says the same every bulletin:
'Thank you Jeremy/Sophie. Morning, Nigel Jay with the news in the north west'
He then finishes short bulletins with:
'Back to Jeremy and Sophie'
and longer bulletins with:
'Thank you <weather presenter>, back in half an hour, national news in a few moments'

I thought that was very on-topic!
And the funny thing is that Meridian feel they should go one better and have the newsreader looking at a monitor of the ITN Lunchtime presenter, they saying 'thanks John' and starting the local news. Tacky I think.
