This is on tonight. Scheduled until 00:00 although Alan Carr said on The One Show that they would go on until people stopped giving money, with repeats scheduled afterwards this may be possible but I think probably unlikely, although I wouldn't be surprised if it overruns a little.

I don't really know what to expect from this programme, hopefully it will not be a clone of the BBC's charity events which have become quite boring in recent years. They are going to play The Two Million Pound Drop which should be entertaining even if the rest of the evening is Tommy Rot, I wonder if it will be in the normal Million Pound Drop studio, I really hope they haven't pre-recorded it. That would be a mistake.

The real reason for starting this thread is the hope that Tumble Tower replies. Recent Comic Relief and Children in Need nights have been greatly enhanced by his commentary.

Or could be a clone of SUTC that airs in the US, which won't be too bad. That's aired by the 3 major networks over there

Good start with microphone problems. So far, so Children in Need.

Not sure if the microphone was broken or whether they forgot to put Cheryl's vocal track on...

Whatever it was, I owe the sound engineer a drink.

What do you mean, I thought Cheryl Cole was a powerful vocalist in the ranks of Arethra Franklin Laughing

What a mess coming back from the break. The studio wasn't ready, we saw two people running across the stage. We then very faintly heard George Clooney speaking while Alan Carr appeared at the top of the steps and a VO said "Please welcome Alan Carr" as he walked down them. They then cut to George Clooney in mid-sentence to complete what he was saying (something about cancer, I think). Once Mr. Clooney had finished, we heard the "Please welcome Alan Carr" VO again and he walked down the stairs once more.

Well all I can say is it makes you appreciate how well organised Comic Relief and Children In Need are.

The Doctor presenter looks very uncomfortable and ill-suited to this type of programme.
