Interesting point, do presenters wear a thistle on St Andrews day ? or a rose on St Georges day ?
central west and bbc midlands presenters, quite rightly, wear a rose for st george.

i'm pretty sure the central weather girls make an effort for st george's, so i'm surprised they haven’t bothered for st david. there'd be no harm in them recording all 5 central/htv weathers with a daff on really... although i can imagine the out cry from the otherside of the dyke if they recorded the htv weather wearing a rose on april 23rd Laughing

out of interest, do htv just use the central team now (charlie and emma) or do they still normally have su, jo and that miserable bloke?

None of those anymore -- just Ruth Wignall, who was on yesterday. Mind you, it surely can't be much longer till we welcome Su back for another summer.

The thing with roses is that they aren't naturally out in mid April are they -- whereas daffodils are v seasonal.

I do hope this dragon ident will stay around, perhaps for before local programmes. Although with that, the dragon promos and the local frontcaps, perhaps it might be pushing the branding just a tiny bit.

However I'm most disappointed that HTV Sue is branching into speaking some foreign tonight -- it really won't do.

They should have the dragon being unfurrled in various other Welsh locations and use them exclusively as BBC One Wales idents!

Why should Wales have to make do with the crappy dancer idents that were mostly filmed in England?

Dragon being unfurrled over Port Talbot steelworks (yes, I know it's by and large an ugly place, but driving past there at dusk with the sun reflecting off all that metal, it does look pretty!).?

Dragon being unfurrled on the side of mt. Snowdon?

The Close To You menus with the dragon have finished now, so there won't be quite so many dragons around ... apart from the new dragon of course, which is arriving very soon Smile

Yeah, they could have the flag falling down on the front of other places, e.g.
Falling down on the front of Cardiff Castle, Wales Millenium Centre etc

Ooh, I've just seen a fab promo of the 'Close to you' theme.

I do like this new spurt of BBC Wales branding. Well done to all the peeps in presentation. Let's hope it continues! Smile

Any chance of a video clip of the flag ident being uploaded onto this thread? Thanks in advance!

Yes, they'd all throw their comfortable shoes across the border!

A nice load of Daffs on the Look East desk tonight! Not bad considering you can't get much further from Wales than East Anglia in the UK!
