St David's Day

On previous St David's Days i'm sure I have seen national news presenters wear a daffodil for the occasion but this year I have only seen daffodils worn on a BBC Wales/ITV Wales basis.

I am also disappointed that Emma Jesson did NOT wear a daffodil for the ITV Wales Weather bulletin!

I'm sure in previous years I have seen Eamonn Holmes, Fern and Philip, the Loose Women and possibly Des and Mel donning the daff but it seems to be have been totally ignored this year!

BBC Weather have had daffs on the beginning of broadcasts on the forecasters name slide...

Anybody got any caps of the two St. David's Day idents on BBC One (mentioned on DS)?

Interesting point, do presenters wear a thistle on St Andrews day ? or a rose on St Georges day ?

Fiona Phillips from GMTV wore a daffodil this morning.

Also the BBC One ident is great - a welsh flag being revealed within the Millennium Stadium.

I wonder if these idents will be shown beyond today? I expect so, as they wouldnt create two new idents to show them on one day a year!

Hardly surprising since she works in Birmingham and does the weather for other ITV companies not only ITV Wales.

Andrew Jones wore a daffodil for GMTV bulletins this morning, and Tara had a daffodil on for the 3pm bulletin.

One of the new idents was shown before Neighbours (5.35pm) with school kids running in the playground in Welsh costume.

Dearest Jez- even though it may be filmed in Birmingham doesnt prevent the Wales weather presenter from donning a daff and then removing it for the west weather!
I remember when Dilwyn and Sian Lloyd would always be guaranteed to be presenting the weather on St David's Day! Oh how times have changed!

Well the studio was full of daffodils -- which I don't remember happening before.

I'm not sure people wear roses and thistles on their respective saints' days -- different things happen don't they?

The second new ident was shown before the news (6.00pm) and features two men dressed in red falling down from the roof of the Millenium Stadium to reveal a huge Welsh flag.

I hope these remain in use from tomorrow onwards!
