Just been watching the Rugby on BBC1. Noticed of course all the adverts on the field and on the little LCD screens on the side. Who gets the money for these adverts? Do the BBC, ITV, Sky Sports etc get any money from this advertising? Do they get more money than Wembley or whatever do?

TV
i'd imagine they are LED
i dont understand why you think broadcasters would have any claim on revenue from pitch side advertising. they pay the sporting authorities, not the other way round.

in return for showing an event which is almost guarenteed to pull in a decent audience share, i think the broadcasters can live with the powergen logo appearing in shot.

They pay to show the sport which is being used in the stadium yes. But on the other hand, companies are having their names broadcast all around the UK when the camera pans around onto the sideboards, and even more so with the companies who are painted onto the pitch itself.

As has already been said, the host venue will sell all of the advertising, and will be able to receive a good deal more money for prime 'in shot' advertising pitches but the broadcasting companies won't see a penny of it.
I thought first of all that you could have been refering to the big screen 'tv' in the corner of the ground. This looks as if it is currently being sponsored by Microsoft at Twickenham and was previously sponsored by BMW. The feed for these screens (the Twickenham screen, and the screen touring Zurich Premiership grounds with Sky Sport's televised matches), looks to be much the same as the basic feed just with astons removed [or more likely not applied], and possibly fewer controversial replays.
Previously the Twickeham screen used very basic Sky Sports graphics, but all without a mention of Sky themselves, although this was altered a year or two ago.
Something i've noticed this year is that previously when place kicks were being taken towards the end of the screen a static caption was put up, so to not put off the kicker, but this seems not to be done anymore.
