Interesting and more appropriate location for Sport Relief this year - the Friday night show is coming live from Olympic Park with events in the Velodrome, Aquatics Centre and Copper Box.

Where about is the main studio? Is this also at the Park somewhere?

It's a nice mix so far including a few sketches and the clash of the titans sporting events.

It's in the Copper Box.

They seem to have got the mix right tonight - having the (presumably) live element of the Clash of the Titans running throughout really helps as in recent years both Comic Relief and Sport Relief have been a little too reliant on pre-recorded sketches and features.

The set looks great in the Copper Box too - guess it'll probably get SPOTY at some point.

P.S. I don't really get why they downplay the text option on the night itself. Usually it features heavily for the events prior to the telethon and towards the end of the night too, but considering it's one of the easiest ways to donate it's not even been mentioned from what I've seen tonight (through to 10pm).

ooh, that handover between BBC Two and BBC One was a little bit messy. I'd have hoped that Claudia Winkleman had done enough live telly to be able to ad lib for a couple of minutes without just repeating the countdown in her ear...

the Copper Box is looking fantastic though - one of its legacy uses was always going to be as a live music venue, and it's showing itself as working pretty well as a shiny floor studio.

Did anyone spot 'Premier League says thanks' bit was in the regular MOTD studio, sans BBC Sport branding?

I love the fact that they are using the Copper Box as well as the Velodrome and Aquatics Centre. Maybe in two years time we could be in Glasgow at the Hydro, Chris Hoy Velodrome and Tollcross.

Since midnight, they've now reverted to a soft chat style format with presenters and guests sitting down.

With the use of the Olympic Park this year, it has very much created a clear distinction between Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.

I'd have liked to have seen at least one more Sport presenter host the studios bits just to underline that a little more. Maybe Logan coming into the studio for the later part of the show.

Only the OB bits. The studio bits could have been anywhere and were pretty interchangeable with Comic Relief or Children in Need. Maybe the next one could be 100% OB. Also, have it on Saturday/Sunday early evening/daytime and incorporate the Sport Relief Games Show in to it.

I think Sport Relief is established enough now not to need to desperately distinguish itself from Comic Relief by airing at the weekend or being obviously different. Indeed I think the links between the two are built upon even more with each passing telethon and it's allowing Comic Relief to raise £50m+ every year without actually airing every year, even though of course it now is.

On the whole I think Sport Relief got it right this year - though do agree another sports presenter as part of the presenting team would have been nice.

Which is what they used to do, of course, in 2002, 2004 and 2006 you had the Sport Relief Mile on Saturday afternoon and then the main programme in the evening. But it certainly rates better, and makes more money, now, which is the main point.
