Anybody know the date the new series begins? I know its sometime in late september/early october. The Series 5 DVD comes out on September 10th, so must be pretty soon after that.

Regarding the series its self, I have heard that this wont be the last series, which has been speculated previously.

Also, BBC Three comissioned a spin off series by Kudos, called Rouge Spooks last December. Its due to air sometime this autumn too. Anybody know more on this series?

I've no idea but I am looking forward to seeing a return of Spooks. Incidentally why do the BBC insist on releasing the previous season on DVD just before the new season starts? It means if you want to watch it again before the new series you have to watch about a dozen episodes in a week or two.

As for the spin-off I'm a little nervous about it after Torchwood which was supposed to be a more adult Dr Who spin-off. Instead turned into a a dreadful juvenile show. I hope it doesn't mean we see lots of junior spies copping off at each and every turn, with no real story.

M I High isnt a spin off of spooks as such, however it is also made by Kudos, and happens to be about secret agents.. starring kids.

Rouge Spooks is ment to be airing on BBC Three sometime this autumn, but I've not read anything about it since December.

According to some posters here, the spin-off show will be called Liberty, or Spooks: Liberty.

The name for the series is mentioned in this article.

The opening episode sees Zaf, undercover in Tehran, placing a bomb on a civilian train in an effort to flush out a key Iranian spy.

Producer Katie Swinden said: "For the first time ever, we've chosen to explore one theme throughout the series, and one which is an ongoing concern in today's world affairs agenda. The relationship between Britain, Iran and the US is such a delicate and topical issue that it opens up a wealth of new storyline possibilities to us.

"Audiences will be able to follow Adam, Harry, Ros and the team as they take on their most challenging operation to date, and will get to see them in a whole new range of dangerous and exciting situations."

Be interesting to see how that works - though I was beginning to think that they might start running out of single or double episode storylines that they hadn't already done before.

Lots of TV shows have season-long story Arcs these days. I'm sure Spooks' will be very enjoyable.

From the 'coming soon' ad on BBC1 for Spooks, it looks like there may be a new theme tune, unless they just decided to put different music to the ad.

Nah - I'd be surprised if the music for the trail is related to the series. It strikes me it is more a case of them chosing a very stylised, Bond-esque, trail format - and needing music that would work with it.

Just as the visuals are very unlikely to be directly related to the new series - it looks like they were specially shot for the trail - similarly the music is likely to be specific to the trail.

(Some series get specially shot trails independent of the content of the actual show - seems this is one of them.)

Does anyone remember the initial premise of Spooks - and the trail tagline "MI5, not 9 to 5"...
