I've just tuned into ET1 and the athletics, and have seen some rather smart BBC Sport hoardings around the track!

Anyway, it looks as though ET1 is taking the complete BBC feed -- less commentating -- with all the graphics etc. I was just wondering, though, have you been having these split screens too?

I'll try and look in at the end to see if there's a BBC Eurovision ident -- though I doubt it. It's just that you never know as this is being seen abroad!

It looks like the BBC Sport alive background, so it's quite likely the UK is too - but I haven't been watching so I don't know for certain! Smile

The athletics are usually put into split screen when they consider that two important events are happening and they want to show both. Rather than cutting away from one.

Thanks! I though it might well be so.

When I was channel hopping earlier, it was indeed split screen - as shown.

And that is the BBC Sport background (they changed it a while ago from the 'colours' one)

I really hate that background, especially when they have the footie results over it, I just can't take my eyes off it.

The current background, is better than the old 'colours' one(as Asa knows it), which reminds me, would it be a good idea to capture the Grandstand opening titles(I really like the current ones, but i'm at work when they are shown), because isn't BBC Sport supposed to be having a revamp.

I understand that BBC Sport will be having a 'Results' type service similar to Sky's Soccer Saturday in the Autumn, ITV will also have 'Goal Rush'.

I never understood why they didn't do this when they had the rights! I'm sure it would have got more viewers than curling or something..!

I posted a message of to BBC Text a while ago asking them if they were planning a nice invision football score box while watching one of the Beeb's channels. I got a very nice reply but no mention of invision - maybe they'll be no need!

Isn't the new look supposed to be ongoing at the moment (Wimbledon/Golf) so will be ready for Saturday?

Yes agreed, although you don't really need the rights to do this type of programme as demonstrated by ITV2 last year with 'Football First', all you need is a commentator at the games, a couple of guests in the studio and a big scoreboard, ticker and vidi-printer.

Hello all. I've been chatting to a technical bloke whoworks for BBC Sport and he's been telling me about a brand new look for sport programs on the BBC. The current studio (where all sport programs come from) is 'shagged' so during Wimbledon and the Golf afterwards, they completely rebuilding the studio. It will be on two levels and each program will have their own section (Grandstand, Football Focus, Match of the Day) and will have a view of the sportcentre in the background. Not sure if there will be an updateon graphics although he did say all the program will be having new looks. That's all I know. We'll have to wait and see.
