Ftn (VF)

No. Surely logic should cause it to be called FN, or FT, or, for one extra letter, FTN? Rolling Eyes

And V1 is a generally agreed definition anyway, so it's not worth reorganising the coding schema to fit in with anything. And don't claim you invented it.

Anyway, Virgin 1 looks like it's going to be rubbish so I'll be avoiding it deliberately.

Ftn is owned by Virgin, therefore it's a member of the Virgin family of channels, just like Challenge, Bravo, Living etc. Therefore the code for Ftn consists of broadcaster code V (for Virgin) + channel code F (for Ftn) = VF. Get it?

The code for Virgin One will be V1. Explanation: V for Virgin + 1 for One.

Oi Tumbler!

NO!

Fair enough, Ftn then. Since it launched in early 2003, I've hardly ever watched anything on Ftn. According to my records (you see, I log all my TV viewing in my daily diary), the only programme I've seen on Ftn this year is The Krypton Factor from 19:00 – 19:30 on Saturday 14 April. So I won't miss this channel. It's actually closing down for good on all platforms (Freeview, Sky and Cable), is it?

I'm recording a load of Ftn idents tonight while I've got the chance. Do you know if there'll be a farewell ceremony on September 30th worth recording for my TV PRES collection?

Auf Wiedersein Ftn. Guten Tag Virgin One.

You could publish these logs online, possibly on Tumble Tower forums?

What will the code be for Dave?

Oh for Christ's sake. I thought Tumble Dryer had stopped using these codes.

Do you (TT1) not realise that no-one else (ROP) understands your channel codes (CC)?

No-one else could care less about this p ointless, i mpractical, s enseless, s tupid, o bstructive, f atally f lawed coding system. Y es, o nce u pon a time they were quite laughable, but now t hey w aste a lmost t wice as much time and space as you do.

Now that I've wasted half of my evening writing that... I may as well write something of some sense.

Tumbly, do you not understand that no-one really cares about calling CBeebies B7? I'd much rather type CBeebies (not that I have any intention to), than call it B7. How would you go about coding shows such as ITV Play's numerous shows? Alphabetical? Chronological order from launch date?

I know I probably sound like a right tw*t myself, but then I suppose it's hard when posting in the same thread as Tumble Dryer.

I thought it would have more close to your 6th birthday, although I don't want to offend those who are 6. Get a life, and stop annoying everyone with your f*cking codes!!! Twisted Evil

To be honest, I'm surprised someone like him has made it to be 36. Or should that be XXXVI?

Anyway, Tumble Tower, I think the best present you can get for your birthday would be the gift of a broken keyboard to replace the working one you have right now.

Well am I right in believing it will be a UKTV channel? Albeit not actually branded UKTV Dave. In which case, it would have to start with U (for UKTV), then something else for Dave.

N.B. I'm currently using UDo = UKTV Documentary, and UDr = UKTV Drama. So I suppose it'll have to be UDa (Da = Dave).

Correction. CBeebies is coded B6. B7 is the code for BBC News 24. The BBC channels are coded in Freeview lineup order:

B1 = BBC One
B2 = BBC Two
B3 = BBC Three
B4 = BBC Four
B5 = CBBC Channel
B6 = CBeebies
B7 = BBC News 24
B8 = BBC Parliament

Shows how much attention people (yes, I'm talking for the forum at this moment) pay to your coding system. Where do the international BBC channels come into this? And where do channels such as BBC Choice and BBC Knowledge get coded?
