I wonder if they'll feature news readers like they did in the 70s. Seeing a puppet version of Preston, Bradby and McCoy would.be hilarious. We know that Piers Morgan will get a puppet but I wonder if they'll use a scaled down version of the GMB set

Who’s Preston?

That's clearly just a typo. He meant Peston.

The original Spitting Image had some specials which aired on US TV, didn't they? Though I think they were focused on the likes of Reagan, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope and wouldn't have had UK celebs in.

I'm not sure how tailored they're trying to make this for the American subscribers but wouldn't our news presenters be a little obscure?

There's some confusion over this, because the revival initially involved a pilot aimed at the US networks and therefore it was more geared towards an American audience. However Britbox picked it up instead and so it is going to be UK-centric.

Appologies. It corrected 'Peston' to 'Preston'

The logo is growing on me. It's actually pretty representative of our times, police tape and spray paint.

Not British police tape though!

Well, more generic caution tape then.

I imagine it was commissioned purely to encourage UK audiences to subscribe. Can't imagine many Americans having a strong enough grasp of British politics to know about the likes of Gove, Raab and Cummings, who all have puppets.

It's no different to Netflix or Amazon having budgets for original content to keep subscribers interested once they've watched the old content.

Clearly Britbox needs a hook to get people subscribing, so Spitting Image, one of the most progressive satirical shows of all time which Britbox's demo would have watched and enjoyed is back.

Worth noting too that BritBox also have the boxset of The Singapore Grip, which launched on ITV last night with the whole series available afterwards. I think that's the first time they have done that.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

I think that is a very clever way if doing it.
I think ITV should get rid of Hub+ and just remove adverts for BritBox customers as an added benefit

That may well be the way they're going as ITV Hub already throws up Britbox search results now, like so:

One thing possibly getting in the way is that I believe Hub+ has quite a strong subscriber base of its own (around 500,000 I believe)

I never realised that.
