Put The Telly On
The last episode is so topical to the day (1996)...

X Files,
Take That splitting up,
Tony Blair becoming Labour Party leader,
Eco-warriors,
Top Gear,
Talk about 1997 and Labour's possible victory.
Talk about 1998 and Jarvis Cocker and Bjork's baby and Queen Mother's baby!
Talk about 2005 and Trevor McDonald with the Intergalatic News and Noel and Blobby Gotcha-ing Barbara Windsor... Laughing

Brilliant.

I didn't hold out much hope of the Central ident being shown, but the DOG removal was a welcome surprise. That's not all that was removed - what happened to the break boards in Ep 1?

Strange thing is, that very first episode had a canned laughter track on it. I never knew Spitting Image to have that.

The very first ones did air with a laugh track, apparently (which incidentially was real laughter and not canned - they were shown to a studio audience prior to TX). The only other episodes to have an audience were the 1992 election special and a couple from the Autumn 1993 season.

you can tell how bad it become just before the end, there wasn't that much funny, maybe there should have left a year a two between the next servie, If Spitting Image was around in 2000 there would of had a field day with Bush , blair, and in 2001, with bin ladin, bush, everything eles,

it was probaly Carlton idea to get rid of it. when is was going thourgh a bad picth.

More to do with politics at the time going through a bad pitch er patch I think. I don't think they realised at the time just how much they could have got out of Tony and Cherie (probably the only satrical take that hasn't turned her into a postbox Razz ).

Great to see Spitting Image again. One thing I thought was strange is that they seem to have rerecorded the theme tune. I wonder if this is because they don't have the original in Stereo (or maybe they don't have a clean version).

The quality of this show was just so high. I loved the royal "The tradition of the changing of the wives", such a great idea,..
