Maybe for ITv50 but I doubt it. Wasn't that funny anyway, I was expecting at least canned laughter in it!

Spitting Image outstayed its welcome by a distance. Originally it was humorous political satire, but turned into an unfunny overplayed bore.

I think the story was on Teletext a couple of months ago - basically the idea's been shelved as the cost per episode was too much to justify.

I don't think that kind of show would fit into todays schedule.

I do often get fed up of people demanding old TV programs back sometimes. Not you personally of course, but people in general. It's gone, it's been cancelled, move on. If it does happen to come back, that would be nice, but i just don't get people who actually try contacting companies trying to get old shows back on.

Yes it is rather sad.......

......suppose the thing here is that the TV industry generally seems desperate to re-vatalise the concept of television comedy, and can't help but look at former long-runs as a model.

This wasn't after all a gricer why don't they , it was ITV thinking aloud and tasting the water.

The real point is that Spitting Image really worked, and delivered hudge audiences, when the Government was old, tiered and politically corrupt, the opposition were a bunch of prats and there were lots of easy targets for satire like a thick Republican Administration, the Church of Engalnd and British Rail. Now we have ...........

... and a really juicy target for satire in ITV Senior managament.

They would of had to make new puppets and itv couldn't justify doing it because of the money!
