Of course live and kicking were desperate. I remember bbc 2 showing the tick around 7.10pm

This channel does actually look quite interesting. The branding is very strong, and some of the programming is actually decent, a full run of Breaking Bad for example, although it's a) not on Virgin Media at launch and b) not in HD. But still, a solid launch line-up.

Totally agree. Of all the channels that have launched in the last 12/18 months I think this one could actually do an ITVBe and get some audience. I had hoped for TruTV but that's just kind of got lost. There's a nice mix of familiar and new. I'm hopeful.

How illogical. It's not 5USA2, it's a US channel brand. It should be treated the same as the other Viacom channels, and that means a unique web presence.

The fact that it's a "Channel 5" channel and not a "Viacom" channel has also had reprucussions in that it's not on the Sky EPG in Ireland, though it is available on Other Channels and with a non Sky reciever. Until recently the amount of channels not available on Sky in Ireland tended to be absolutely tiny and limited to those with "ITV" or "5" in their names, if this continues it is likely that most Sky customers will be purchasing free to air recievers to sit on top of their Sky boxes - or replace them.

I understand there is a distribution deal for the BBC channels with BBC Worldwide (excluding BBC One and Two NI) for Sky in Ireland.

The BBC channels are all on the Irish EPG now except, I think, for BBC Parliament and BBC News.

Makes sense, although BBC World News should be added to 28e for Ireland at least, even if it's encrypted so people in the UK can't view.

That's a good start, Spike has launched an hour earlier than planned...

Nothing on Sky 160 for me yet. I assume Sky will add it to the EPG shortly?

Quite a nice ident, quite clever, although a technique that has been used before (BBC HD, amongst others)

Yeah, i don't get it, they've been promoting it as launching at 8pm, the EPG has saif launches at 7pm though. But even on Channel 5 they are still saying 'there's an hour to go".

Anyway, the ident:

Quite a large DOG too, and unusually in the top right hand corner rather than left.
Stuart, tweedledum and rob gave kudos

The first hour is a simulcast of Channel 5 by the looks of things...
