Strange they are giving 5 USA and even 5* prominence over Spike. You would have imagined they'd want to keep it on 21 so it was as low in the EPG as possible so more people had a chance to find it.

Freeview EPG rules mean that's not allowed. It is a 'new channel', and would if it wasn't associated with Channel 5 have to launch at the end of the general entertainment section.

But surely nothing stopping them from moving it back to 21 in a little while after launch when everything has settled down so it gets prominence?

Channel 5 / Viacom are only allowed to do such an internal shuffle of their channels once a year, according to the current Digital UK rules.

Launch date to be announced on Monday??

A lot of such teasers from Spike on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram over the weekend, only to be followed on Monday by nothing... except a 30 second coming soon trailer. A big build up followed by a damp squib. Hopefully that isn't what the channel will turn out to be...

The Spike TV website now confirming carriage on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and TalkTalk.

Freeview was confirmed last October, Freesat recently confirmed themselves that they would be getting Spike, Sky was pretty much granted. Odd to mention TalkTalk, because TalkTalk TV receivers are YouView boxes that have a Freeview tuner inbuilt, so would have got Spike anyway. I wonder if it'll appear twice in the TalkTalk YouView channel list?

Crucially, no mention yet of Virgin Media, although back in October it was said that Viacom would be seeking distribution for Spike on cable and satellite. This may just indicate that a carriage agreement hasn't yet been finalised.

Not surprising, it's also the same day Viva changes to being all music videos and no more programming.

Lets see how long that last then considering the trend with music channels in recent years.

There was me thinking VIVA was closing down. I didn't realise it was only closing on Freeview.

If you think about it, VIVA used to be "The Music Factory (TMF)" and aired music videos, so I guess VIVA's becoming TMF.

But TMF showed programmes as well.
