Viacom's latest channel and replacing Viva on Freeview has launched its Twitter feed with a hint of what might be coming.

https://mobile.twitter.com/SpikeTVUK

Its initial website looks like it could be a bit smarter than the other Viacom sites: http://www.spiketv.co.uk

Still unclear when about in Spring it will actually be launching but I can imagine this will be getting a big push from C5.

Box office dramas and big budget movies? Sounds good to me. Let's see if they deliver.

Spike just updated to that new logo. When it was launched it was really heavily geared to young men. Most of the original programming is LOUD. The hosts are LOUD and the soundtrack are heavy metal. They do show some movies, they appeal to young male demo. They also show lots of Cop reruns, I think, I think, they actually produced a couple of seasons after it was dropped by FOX. A couple of the originals are BAR RESCUE. A big fat loud mouth consultant helps turns around failing bars. Also there is an original show called COACHING BAD (get it Breaking Bad) about sports coaches that are verbally abusive to the kids/teams they coach. So they have interventions with psychologists etc on how to coach. Lots of screaming and yelling. Also there is a furniture building competition show with rapper Common serving as host. Good show thats badly produced. They pulled back a bit on the TnA type programming that was popular when the channel rebranded a few years back. I do like the new branding and presentation.

Here is more on the new logo.

Bar Rescue is on Food Network I believe. Will be interesting to see the programming they show on the UK version. The line-up for the US one isn't setting the world alight though...

I think Bar Rescue was recently on 5* as well.

Given that it looks like they'll be airing big US dramas I wonder what effect this will have on 5USA in terms of shows and audience share.

I wonder where it will go on the Sky EPG? Will they move channels around to give it priority in the guide? They could put it beside MTV HD and move Comedy Central+1 or Extra lower down. Perhaps they may even want it on 112 beside Dave and put Comedy Central beside MTV, again moving one of the CC spin-offs lower down.

Here is more on the rebrand.
Seems like they are moving away from a heavily male demo. I wonder how that will translate to the UK channel.

Without sounding sexist (I'm sure somebody will interpret it as that) I'm pleased to see a more masculine-driven channel launch in the UK. In my opinion television has become overly feminine, so it's a nice breath of fresh air since Bravo died. Besides Dave and ITV4, I don't think there are any other "blokey" channels.

I think Quest fits that bill as well with some of their recent UK commissions.
