Your radio station probably covers two perhaps three parlimentary constituencies, so it wont exactly be incoming results throughout the night! Smile

whats wrong with your radio station investing in a proper telly? - you could read out the lottery results as they happen on Wed/Sat nights!!

A proper TV? God we have 4 of them in the studio! There is two on teletext, and two on CCTV for personal security.
We will be broadcasting through the night actually, because we have 7 people working on it, using the internet and an outside broadcast. I will be anchorman, but, hey, i'm not doing all the work! WOOHOO!

You need to raise some cash to stream your station on the net!

Wrong end of stick - I think. Either that or you were joking!
Erm, the researchers get on the net to research (or steal results from BBC NEWS ONLINE and ITN ONLINE)
We have an outside broadcast, which was my idea, so i'm hoping will work from a studio in Westminster where results will be called out ASAP.

I'm sorry but i'm gonna be boring because its my birthday on June 7th and i've been forced to come out in Manchester during the evening!

Well happy birthday for Thursday then!

I'll probably stick with the lovely Mary Nightingale and the not-so-lovely John Sergeant on election night, purely because BBC will be dull dull dull as usual. I fail to see how people can get excited at the prospect of Peter Snow whipping that swinging thing of his out, but maybe if you like that sort of thing...

Yes, I'll stick with the human faces on ITV I think. In between revising for my bloody politics exam the day after, that is. D'Oh!

I'm sticking with ITV because they don't hype it and they tell it like it is.

I think the Election result is about as landslide as Cheshire watching Sky because the BBC is 'boring and irrelevant' - although it beats Sky hands down IMHO for in-depth coverage.

Cue the reply...

Indeed and here is your reply.
I am not being insulting, well actually I am going to be in a short while but...
You evidentally have never seen one single election night in your entire life!

If you watched the last elections, read about the last elections then you would know what sort of service to expect from all of the networks.

ITV's coverage of big events is awful, it is well known for that.
I know because I have the tapes from all three networks from the last time, and I have watched them all.
Also, the idea behind using quotes is that you actually quote the person..
I have never said that the BBC coverage is irrelevant, indeed they do it a hell of a lot better than ITV.
ITV is only preferable because the presenters were not as stuck up as those on the BBC.

In terms of coverage Sky also won hands down last time... the fact that they had the UK leading pollster, the most experienced political editor and the best results calling.
And as I said, you don't have a clue about election night.
Election night is not a time to go 'in-depth' it is a time to find out who wins and where.

The presenters on the BBC are boring and patronising, the graphics are however highly amusing.

Sam, you seem to know very little, or at least if you do you did not prove it to me in that post, about elections and election night.
The overall winner on the day will be Sky, as they have the ability to be the overall winniner, not dipping in and out of another networks coverage, like ITN and the BBC.
when you have learnt a little about politics, and a little about elections then come back and present an arguement.

News 24 actually have programmes for the election night. They have the Vote 2001 programme on from 2155 and there are no overnight news bulletins according to the Whatson website. I've also checked the BBC World website, and that reckons that there is nothing on!! The last bulletin is 2000 and the next one is 0900 on friday!

I guess that News 24 will have normal News Bulletins during the regional opt-outs of Vote 2001 ? Also if there was a big breaking news story during Vote 2001 (during the Election) would News 24 interupt programming ?

Will these regional opt outs use regional titles, or special ones - what??

I'll be watching the BBC's coverage over ITV, but I might watch ITV when the Calendar Election regional bits are on.
I won't be watching ITV mainly for 2 main reasons
a) GMTV is likely to be a lot worse than the Breakfast coverage on BBC One
b) Whilst a cruical seat is just coming through on BBC One, ITV could be in the adverts!
