Another fairly clever twist there - not as good as the Wales v Germany one though Very Happy

BBC ONE Wales are going to show the whole match again at 10:30pm for those interested, not sure about the other regions because its a late change but i think its probably unlikely

Right I'm going to run now before I get flamed like so many poor newbies before me for using incorrect grammar, spelling or forgetting some vital piece of puncuation. Possibly someone has already mentioned it in some corner of the forum or by someone who is complaining about the fact I've resized the cap from its original 1024x576 or anyone who fails to see the WON instead of ONE and thinks I'm telling you things you already know about. (Just thought I'd cover all the bases - I hope I'm proved wrong)

Don't be silly - these things are only networked when our glorious overlords England win something.

Btw - how stupid does ITV News have to be to use a boyos pun? Easy ways to annoy an entire nation part one.

Can all the Welshmen please calm down, and take the chips from your shoulders.

Well done to Wales, the Grand Slam is a difficult thing to achieve, and i'm just sorry that England were so pittiful for the first game, if we had have been half decent we'd have thrashed you then (although not on your later performances).

ITV: Why would they do anything special? They aren't going to draw attention to a competition that will cost them money to show highlights of.

The BBC: Be thankful that you have a very good presentation department who have put together a selection of idents and can be bothered to put a few extra graphics on screen.

Generally you won't get many programmes appauding you, because winning the Grand Slam is an entirely different proposition to winning the World Cup; were there any programmes devoted to England in the spring of 2003, no. You also can't really whinge about English programmes and 'bias' because it really is up to the network to opt out.

Why should England be denied coverage just because we are the default feed, we already loose out on many of the treats of regions because the network feed should be (although you can argue to what extent) general and not aimed at any one country.

To be fair, I'm not Welsh, I'm Scottish, but I remain annoyed that we enjoyed the privilege of viewing England: A Celebration last year.

Fair enough, up in Scotland it was up to SMG to opt out of this programme, so the fault must lie with them, and the same thing in UTV land. However, because of the outdated way the ITV network is run the other companies would have had to pay for this programme whether they showed it or not. I have nothing against England celebrating its achievements, or this programme being the default network feed, but the rest of the UK shouldn't be punished for it by having to pay for something which has no relevance to them.

But ITV1 Wales is owned by ITV PLC, an English company, which means that it isn't really up to them to opt-out because they're owned by the network anyway.

Oh to be English..... such a chore! Win or lose, we're damned!
However, I do agree with you p_c_u_k. if Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland triumph in something that is a major achievement for that country (and lets face it, the Rugby World Cup was to England because we've been crap since), then that achievement should be broadcast throughout the entirety of the UK as those countries are the other three nations that make up the UK. I do get annoyed at the over excited cretins on TV who refer to the UK as being just England. I can understand why it would annoy the scots and Welsh. I say very well done to Wales. it is great to have the grand slam title going to a UK country. Also, Wales always had a fabulous rugby team in the 70's and 80's and it is good to have them back on top. as for Scotland, a year ago they were just rubbish. now, they certainly are comparable with England, which is a good rugby team but played crap this year. To finish third was a good achievement for England under the circumstances and Scotland finished fifth.

I say that every country deserves equal recognition and the English triumphs yes, could be featured on the national news alongside every other nation, but unless it is a fantastic achievement should be limited to broadcast only in England.

Oh, BBC, PLEASE DO NOT SHOW ANOTHER REPEAT OF THE BLOODY 1966 WORLD CUP FINAL NEXT YEAR! If you do I'll scream at Greg dyke through a megaphone outside TV Centre. it is so infuriating! We Won in 1966-YES! But we havn't won it since and probably never will again!

The addition of this BBC 1 Wales idents has made me wonder why the rest of the Uk aren't treated to 'special' idents - there have been many opputunities over the past few weeks - Doctor Who night, Comic Relief (although the 2003 one was shown) - I think it may have something to do with the fact that the dancer concept is far less versatile than that balloons were - we had a special ident for the Millennium (with the balloon flying over the Dome) and one for the start of Walking With Beasts - come on BBC, give us something to really talk about, except our hatred towards the dancers!!!!!!!

P.S- does anybody know why 'Ballet' was withdrawn? Confused:

It wasn't withdrawn, it's reserved for sombre type programmes, unless of course it's Christmas when you get the Christmas symbol

Thanks.
