I don't think anyone has ever officially confirmed that that was the reason the music was changed.

hmm...I can't see any other reason why they would've pulled it - The current audio is fine, but the original was just as fitting, if not better.

Unless of course, they decided it didn't fit their criteria for BBC One Ident music - It was quite different to the others.
