Surprisingly enough it was Remote. We haven't had a new BBC TWO regular ident since Fire in 2003; how hard can it be to create one that has a dalek in? If they were so intent on using an existing ident why not have Remote which controls a dalek two?
I doubt we'll have one next week either depite the fact that this is one of the longest running programmes and we haven't seen it for over fifteen years.

Yes I thought that was one brilliant. All though probably better for Dr Who night as opposed to the new series but an ident like that should be used definitely.

Well if BBC WON WALES can have a rugby ident, I can see no reason why the Dr can't have one. After all im really quite excited to see a Darek doing "tumbler" in burberry and red. Sounds brilliant doesn't it.........

Remember a few weeks ago when there was all the hype about a possible Comic Relief ident, and all that BBC 1 showed was the 2003 version minus the logo and red box. But, I would love to see a series of special idents and promotional bumpers (you may remember the ones that BBC 1 and 2 showed in the early nineties)
I don't think there have been any special idents on the BBC since The Big Read in 2003 (I think), barring today's 'BBC Won Wales' version. I think it is a shame that the balloon has gone as it was so more versatile than the dancer concept.

Agree whole heartedly. The Beeb should produce something, anything but something to mark the Doctors return, even if it is The Dr in red doing tumbler. The globe was so much more versatille, e.g. footie, well we had a footie ident. please HEGGESSY doing something worthwhile before you leave........

So today's the big launch day. It would be nice for something special to be used to mark the occasion but I've just got visions of the same old idents being used, probably Hip Hop or Bollywood.
If they aren't feeling creative with a new ident perhaps they'll have Festival considering that it is a celebration to some people that it has returned after 16/17 years.
