As a matter of fact (and apologies to our English neighbours - I hope you understand, it's an underdog beating the big guys thing) I'd like to see that game against now, like they are presumably seeing on BBC1 Northern Ireland right now. But I can't, because it's not on the network feed and Scotland haven't specially opted-out. However, if I wanted to see England (big team) demolish Germany (big team), then I'm sure room would be found. It's about time a way was found to accommodate situations like this. It may not be appreciated down south, but I'm sure viewers in Scotland, Wales AND Northern Ireland would like to see this game again.

Especially those of us who were in pubs stupid enough to switch to the Republic of Ireland game. Hngh. Before we hastily raced to another pub after hearing that Northern Ireland had taken the lead, of course....

Here's a clip of the symbol, as transmitted just before the Sign Zone.

Unfortunately if England win, the rest of us would be subjected to it, while if a nation wins, it's relegated to regional television. Is that fair?

I think it's great that BBC ONE NI has the freedom to opt out just over an hour after the match finishes to re-run the whole thing, not only that, but adjust the idents too. BBC ONE England would never have the freedom to do this - NI is a great local station with a real identity which we just dont have here in England.

There's a much higher population here in North West England compared to NI, but we don't have Manchester-based presentation, nor anywhere as much local programming. To have two different Match of the Day programmes covering the same match - one for NI, the other for England/Wales is just brilliant.

It's good for Northern Ireland - but not for the Scottish and Welsh who are stuck with the English broadcast, like it or not!

Considering it's the BBC, they should be able to do one neutral broadcast for the game - they manage it with the rubgy after all - getting the balance of commentators / analysts right rather than having a token guest - and also remaining quite impartial and judging the match as a whole, not just the performance of England.

Or you could move to the greatest footballing nation in the UK Laughing

P.S. They have added a red cross to the "NIL" box, before Neighbours.

The special ident will be going out again on BBC ONE Northern Ireland just before EastEnders this evening at 1930!

Perhaps someone could capture it?

Missed the game itself as I was working a late shift on Wednesday night, good to see the presentation dept at BBC NI were able to put something together.

Did UTV open the wallet and have a shot of a sheep in a Norn Irn jersey standing in a field in Dromara?

I've uploaded the slightly altered version of the symbol (with red cross on the white box) which is now in use.

And to answer the previous question about UTV's efforts, not a lot really! All they did was change the image on the two plasma screens in the UTV Live studio! Even that is big for UTV!
