If you think about it really, this show is working on two levels.

Firstly, it's what it says on the tin - the enjoyment of watching 9 fools being fooled!

But I think the way it is really working is all the little flaws and that the viewers pick up on, which make the whole hoax look more vulnerable and increases the prospect of the hoax being exposed. That is how the show really works!

Not only does it make the viewers feel far more intelligent than not just the Cadets, but also the production team, I think the prospect of the hoax being exposed is probably far more appealing than the prospect of them pulling it off! Obviously though I think most viewers don't want it exposed until they are in "space".

If every possible thing that could expose the hoax had been accounted for, meaning it was highly unlikely it be exposed, I don't think it be as great as it is!

For me its like having all the best bits of Big Brother wrapped up into one... the tasks, the conspiracy theories, watching their every move... without any of the boring bits like the contestants lying around in the sun or baking bread.

I must confess I didn't think I was going to like this show very much at all but I've been quite surprised by it, and I bet this series will become as popular as Big Brother in time. The only trouble is that there is now less than 2 weeks until it all ends - they couldn't really do it again... could they??

I thought it ran from the 7th-16th?

On the contrary, I thought I was going to enjoy it but was quite disappointed. I found it boring - nothing happened last night! From what i've seen, there will only be one reasonably entertaining show, and that is when they actually "go into space" - that is, if it ever gets that far...

I think that's right.

Last night was a little frustrating to watch as we are all keen to see the launch to "space", but the little touches of hoax detail makes it very interesting to observe, given our position of being in on the joke.

It could hardly be repeated though, so a very expensive one-off show it will be.

ABC are reportedly very interested in trying it over in America, however, the UK show is getting coverage on most of the breakfast shows there so surely the contestants will know about it beforehand?!

*****gate should be televised. Oh yes it was wasn't it, Jessica did a special episode from Brum.

Can someone explain those two references for me?

Found the post.

Has nobody got the joke yet????

Come on, after episode 1 it was suspect, episode 2 it was subtly in your face, and episode 3 was simply insulting the intellegence of the audience.

They are all actors and the hoax is on the people watching it, not the people supposedly wanting to go to space.

I have to agree it's starting to look as if the hoax is on the viewers.

Here are screengrabs of the contestant who bears a striking similarity to an actor who appeared with Gordon Ramsay in a blood donation advert mentioned earlier in the thread.

Obviously the same person. Yet we've been told by Space Cadets that his occupation is an electrician? Actor, more like.

If this is what they're building up to, then the big problem is that it's just not a very good joke. The joke as we know it so far, however, is - we're watching all these people from the outset knowing that it's all a hoax and that they're going to look very silly when it's revealed to them. But if, at the end, they say "Ha! We all fooled you! The whole thing's set up and everybody is an actor!" then where's the public humiliation? Who's gonna find that funny? The producers?! Bit of an expensive production just to keep them amused!

Or do the conspiracy theorists think they're hoping to keep it all under wraps? It's very careless employing somebody who has already been on television before.

I thought it would be a great show - but so far it has been incredibly slow. It's becoming a late contender for the biggest disappointment of the TV year. Plus I agree with the above posters....it's becoming clear everything is not what it seems.

I think it right that some of the "contestants" are actors to make the whole thing seem more genuine to the actual contestants. Surely even if this is a huge ratings winner, they simply cannot make another series!
