It is certainly the actors that let them down - only the female one was believable.
My initial thought was surely they'd ensure the actors were physically fit to ensure the others believed they would be selected for the final stages - but then I thought perhaps part of the hoax is having contestants who are so obviously unable!
Only one of the actors is supposed to go on the final mission - I'd hope it's Renee. It's also been reported one of them has already been pulled out because they couldn't get their cover story straight - I'd guess Charlie.

Just watching the repeat right now on E4...
How are the other contestants going to beleive this is all real when Steve, one of the actors, was petrified about absailing down the side of a cliff??

Jarongate should be televised. Oh yes it was wasn't it, Jessica did a special episode from Brum.
Well I enjoyed it. Quite honestly they seem a dozy bunch and there are enough think people out there who'll believe any old rubbish if you tell them.I'll be watching again to see how it goes on.

Did the Sikorksky helicopter have UK registration numbers on it? So much for every little detail being looked after. Can anyone confirm what I saw?

Well it had *numbers* on it; but I certainly wouldn't expect any of those detestable halfwits to know what the origination was.
Perhaps they couldn't be changed. Aren't aerospace regulations pretty strict vis a vis this?

Fantastic tonight - some brilliant laugh out loud moments.
Also once again the actors nearly spoiling things - though great to see Charlie confessing that for a moment, he believed it too. Probably made it more realistic with someone like him asking awkward questions.
And they bought the whole weightlessness thing too - but would any of us know any different?
As for wider implications - many thought this might lead to a boom in "hoax" reality shows - but think about it people will probably be more on their guard now believing every new show is a hoax!
Then again, even after The Pilot Show celebs still signed up to Celebrity Wrestling and Celebrity Love Island!

A caller on The Satellite Show just asked about the 'turning the hoax onto the general public' thing - and was given a rather cryptic answer by the 'expert'....
Loved tonight's show - it get's more fascinating as it goes on and I find myself thinking if I was in their situation would I fall for it?
..I have to say, rather embarrasingly, I think I would!!

The contestants had their watches removed from them, so I assume that was how they didn't notice the tme difference.

Apologies if it was mentioned during the first half hour of tonights show- I didn't see it as I was too busy being underwhelmed by Little Britain... how did they explain the time zones difference? Surely they're not
that
stupid?

It is an interesting experiment - the selection process actively chose the most gullible and suggestible contestants.
However the weightlessness thing is the problem for me. We'd know if "artificial gravity" had been cracked as the astronauts and cosmonauts we see on the news would no longer be floating around. Anyone who has a basic interest in science would be aware if this issue had been solved.
The fact that most of the actors are out of central casting is surely the producers pushing as far as they think they can go, to add to the humiliation of the contestants. The whole thing has to be just believable enough to fool some quite gullible (thick even?) contestants, but so obviously unbelievable to us that we can laugh at their stupidity. If it was done too well it wouldn't be as funny.
On the other hand - the whole concept of the show is enjoying other peoples gullibility, and effectively "laughing at stupid people". I'm not sure that this will have the same appeal as other reality shows, where you end up warming to people.
