This isn't a genuine historic clip; it's a recently-made parody from a music video.

You'll find genuine clips of Soviet TV in THIS thread devoted to television from defunct countries.

Tickers and scrollers running along the screen wouldn't have existed in that era. Not on their budget anyway. Getting vertical rolling titles was still done on a roller with a luma key.

Also, the music video features "Ballad of the War Machine", the latest track from Midnight Juggernauts, a band formed in 2004.

I think this is a lovely piece of viral marketing, reasonably well executed. Song is great too.

No need to close the thread, although the title should be changed.

This recently-made viral video does a nice job of emulating the style of news presentation (Western, rather than Soviet) from the early 1970s:

(Yes, the second anchor is Todd Benjamin, formerly a business anchor and reporter at CNN International.)

The beginning of the video is actually taken from this, a Russian music show (I did try to type the name but the fourm doesn't like the Russian Alphabet). This one is from 1986, but the opening and theme seems to change for each year. The shows feature some quite catchy tunes and also some "Western" acts, not what you would expect from a Soviet country then.
