I have just watched the end of Newsroom South East via Crystal Palace - the one main transmitter which will be served by the new BBC London region from Marylebone, rather than the BBC South East service from Tunbridge Wells...

However - I got to see the South East Today trail...

Sounds like a mistake, or a transmitter routing problem, surely London viewers shouldn't see a trail for a service we aren't going to get?

Newsroom South East did seem to have real timing problems - Nina w a s r e a d i n g v e r y s l o w l y at the end of the programme. I wondered if they were really light, and so decided to run a trail and finish 30' early, but in the heat of the moment chose the wrong trail? (But surely that trail shouldn't have been on a server in Marylebone anyway?)

Yeah, she didn't half like plugging Ceefax at the end! And watching that interview on analogue was bad - the guy was half out of shot! That trail has been going out in London since it started for some reason.

Cheers, Asa
(Trying to get a version of the NRSE titles where they don't fade it out before the map stops!)

Well I'm glad they did show it, means I was able to make a nice clear 16:9 recording of it!

I'm not sure if it was a mistake, as a BBC insider on the MHP list mentioned there would be something interesting between the end of the 6.55 news and the weather on BBC ONE South East - assuming he was referring to the 'old' South East rather than the 'new' South East, of course.

I'm sorry - Crystal Palace is the main transmitter serving the new BBC London region.

It broadcasts at a power level of 1000KW = 1000,000W

Alexandra Palace is just one of many low power relays - it broadcasts at just 70W I'm afraid.  Definitely not enough to be classed as a MAIN transmitter!

BBC Crystal Palace Transmitter page

Gives all the power levels of the CP relays, as well as CP itself.

Also note that this page describes BBC relays in their current state - with the unified London and South East region.
I believe a number of the relays listed (mainly those with ITV Meridian rather than Carlton/LWT listed) will be re-attributed away from Crystal Palace to either Heathfield or another main transmitter within the new BBC South East patch. Certainly the Tunbridge Wells relay will be!!

That trailer was shown again just now throughout the whole South East, so it can't be a mistake.

also - if you look carefully at the little writing in the background of the sports results backing (the blueish one) it still says OXFORD for NRSE - as well as in the closing titles!!!

Yep - even though Oxford moved from BBC South East to the BBC South (Oxford) sub-opt, the Newsroom South East titles and graphics were not re-made to remove references to locations no longer in their patch. Probably because it was felt that the Newsroom South East titles and graphics would only be used for a short period until the South East / London split...

In fact even though NSE has gone 16:9 - the blue text backings haven't been converted on some of the graphics (so the text is a bit short and fat!)

The NSE titles are now in 16:9 - but I expect that most regions titles were made in 16:9and converted to 4:3/14:9 for use in 4:3 studios, but allowing them to be used when studios such as Glasgow, Belfast, Leeds, Norwich etc. re-equip ormove and introduce full 16:9 production (rather than the 14:9 conversion of a 4:3 studio output currently used by most English regions)
