South East Today has been updated to the new regional look, with new titles, and the set being repainted, with red added.

Although, the end of the titles on South East Today are quite different. The only colour is red, with different shades, the animating background is slower than the other regions, and the text and BBC News logo on it seems to have been added badly.

Caught me on the hop tonight while I was having me tea so didn't get a proper look at the titles. I was just thinking last week how much I like that the blue map titles were still being shown on SET!

Aston - boring white-on-red. The SET logo on the left hand side of the aston has sadly disappeared. The newsroom walls that were a horrible yellow are now the standard red but it doesn't half make the area look dark. Same studio although interesting to see the head report was presented from the soft/newsroom set (initially used only on the 3.25 bulletins) than the studio.

Location strap text on live reports is now much larger than national - not the same size as the "Live" caption.

Oh and the sting looks a bit bodged - just the red background with South East Today BBC News bits fading up (BBC and News seem out of place with each other but hey, I'm getting really picky now)

Can anyone confirm it was Monday when it changed?

Cheers, Asa

You're right about the studio looking darker, plus the rings of light which accompanied the look from 1999 don't fit in anymore, so that's more light lost.

The scenes on the titles are nice enough, especially in full widescreen, though my appalling knowledge of that end of the country [even though it was part of my region for eight years] means I can only recognise Brighton pier as the first one with the women in it. Though some of them I don't think you can tell where they are -- handy for when regions start swapping them about the place.

A couple of the best scenes I got from Weds, just for an idea -- I like the spherical camera angle thingy-o on the fishing boat. But apart from that, the red titles screen is rubbish, the rings are too faint and too slow [my tv card doesn't help], the BBC NEWS looks wrong, and it's a shame those nice astons have gone.

That BBC News logo looks awful, it really looks badly implemented!

Still the same old presenters, though.

They could do with someone new, vibrant and local!

Anybody know why it took them so long to change?

The newness of theprogramme was probably a factor, but they have just got a new programme editor after being rudderless for a long while. Expect the programme to change in many ways over the following months.

BBC London is in the same situation (in fact the former acting programme editor of LDN has gone to SET) - you can probably expect the odd tweak at LDN soon too.
