It's an interesting programme. Though they did goof when talking about Doctor Who. It started in 1963, not 1962!
Oddly, they played the Tom Baker titles (last series) up until the point that his face appeared at which point they cut to the Colin Baker titles. There must have been a reason they did this...
Just seen tonight's episode - substantial bit towards the end about TV idents, with Martin Lambie-Nairn being interviewed about his work with Channel 4 and the BBC. Noted that TVARK was credited at the end. Not much new info but you get to see The BBC One balloons without the logo on top, plus the 90s BBC Two idents in rather good quality (but then I was watching in SD). Nice to see ML-N and the related composers being recognised for their work, that is David Dundas, David Lowe and even Anthony and Gaynor Sadler. A pleasant surprise; I though they'd just be talking about adverts...
It was slightly grating that they suggested the 1997 rebrand of BBC One was a response to Channel 4 launching in 1982. Then that the 1991 rebrand of BBC Two was happening at the same time as the balloons. But it was all very interesting, and lovely to see such high quality clips of all the idents and news titles.
Finally watched the first episode yesterday but no mention really that on broadcast TV, especially network US television, that themes are actually dying out - and how that contrasts with the more elaborate efforts of cable and streamers.
