The Acting and Singing was good, but they changed the story to much from the film. The Set was amazing though.
It was based on the original stage adaptation. It's the film that diverts from the original.
Aww I see, the film is better then

That was the stage show, apart from just after Von Trapp and Maria kiss. The stage show originally used a song called An Ordinary Couple, but Something Good was used instead for the film. However, most stage productions since have used Something Good.
Brilliant show. Hope it becomes an annual tradition.
It was so good, i was sitting there wondering whether it was actually live or not. The only thing that convinced me was the odd out of focus shot just as the camera was cut to, and the girl falling over. But Kara Tointon ad-libbing that line was fantastic. I really do think that was a genuine accident, but it was recovered so well. It was a genuinely outstanding production. More of this please!
Is there any behind the scenes info on this? The sets were so well done, and some especially looked like real locations. Did they use a mixture of both somehow?
The people i was watching this with were comparing it to the movie and saying it has changed things from the movie. I'm guessing this is based on the original stage production?

There's a behind the scenes programme on tomorrow night, at 8pm.

The only mistakes I noticed was the camera in the doorway, the girl falling over, director shouting "and on to VT" before some archive footage and the young girl getting her hair caught in the older girl.
Fantastic production though. Well done to ITV Studios Entertainment and all the cast and crew involved.
3 Mills studios, 3 different sound stages in use. 17 cameras and 100 radio mics (principal cast members were double-miced.) Telegenic provided the OB facilities, with a sound specialist company doing the sound.

It was the original stage script, yes. One major change in the film is whilst Rolf rats on the family at the end and tussels with the Captain, in the original he sees Liesl and decides to let them go. It's had lots of people confused but theatre purists seem to have loved it!
It's slightly unfortunate that it was up against SPOTY & The Apprentice on BBC One, otherwise I imagine the ratings would have been higher. I dare say some people might watch Sound of Music Live via catchup in order to skip the ads. Hopefully it's been successful enough for ITV to consider doing something similar next year though.
