You may remember the outrage on this forum caused by the changing of the puppets in the last series of Sooty. Well, according to a friend who is in the know, the tatty puppets which were used were in fact the puppets used by Harry Corbett. They were used in the last series to comemorate Sooty's 50th anniversary. This explains why the puppets in the titles were different to the puppets in the show.

The good news is, the cuddly puppets used throughout the 80's and 90's will be returning for the next series.

I thought I'd let you know, as I know its probably been praying on your mind. Very Happy

But will Brenda Longman - voice of Soo for 22 years before being sacked by new producer Peter Eyre who favoured puppeteers doing the voices?

BTW, the new series of Sooty has started, but I haven't seen any of it. I'm assuming that they're still using the tatty puppets, but I am assured that the good puppets will return for the next series.

I don't think Brenda is coming back. She is concentrating on her acting roles. It's a shame really, as she had a great voice, and an even greater sense of humour.

I know it sounds silly to be talking about a kids show like this, but they've really messed up Sooty over the past few years. I think its got something to do with the rights to "Sooty" changing hands.

Sadly that's inevitable when big companies buy the rights to children's characters. Poor Harry Corbett must be turning in his grave. And look at what's happened to Harry Potter - if I was Joanne Rowling I'd never have allowed Warner Bros to hijack my creation, no matter how much they were paying.

Taking a rest I would presume.

I thought that the episodes of Sooty currently airing on CiTV were the repeats of last years series as they usually create the right amounts of episodes to run from september to christmas; as janie grace's plan of having the same stuff on everyday meant that christmas episodes of all shows including sooty were shown in october and earlier!

Why, what have Warner Brothers done to ruin Harry Potter? A majority of people say it's just as good as the book!

Indeed - and from what I can tell, JK has quite a lot of input into the films...

One of the conditions she had when selling the rights was that she was able to have a large say in how the films were translated from the books, IIRC.

And she insisted to the directors that all parts in the film be played by British actors.... another good move....

Sooty went downhill when they brought that Scampy into it -- I never trusted him.

In fact I was never that fond of Soo either, always thinking she knows best. And she's never wrong, no. Got right on my nerves she did.
