Virgin Media's EPG has just been updated and shows the Sony Channel will continue with a revised schedule and will not close!

Programmes include Satisfaction, Will & Grace, 10 Years Younger, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Community, Spooks, Soldier Soldier, Hot in Cleveland, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, The Guardian, Hustle and movies.

Maybe the channel will also continue on Sky, BT, TalkTalk and TVPlayer?

Looks like the Sony Crime Channel is just a rebrand and revamp of True Crime and not a merger with the Sony Channel as reported.

So there will be Sony Channel, Sony Crime Channel and Sony Crime Channel 2?

No. There will be:

• Sony Crime Channel
• Sony Crime Channel 2
• Sony Crime Channel + 1

There's something up with Virgin, perhaps Sony are still in contract with them and can't close Sony Channel until a later date, so they have to keep it open technically and launch Sony Crime on Virgin later? All mentions of Virgin regarding Sony Crime have been removed from the advertising blurbs/website etc.

This is a little strange. I mentioned this in your VIVA thread, but typically, when Virgin agree carriage deals with channel providers, they are contracted to provide a set number of channels to carry on Virgin. If the provider (here, Sony) wants to launch a new channel on Virgin, they have to remove another channel to make way for it. This happened back in the Chart Show days, when they removed POP from Virgin in order to launch True Entertainment. You might be right about the Virgin contract thing, but I can't see why they can't just remove Sony Channel and put Sony Crime in its place, as it's not as if they're removing or adding any channels?

The difference here is Sony wanting to remove a channel that isn't available to everyone on Freeview and Freesat with a channel that will be, and therefore has less value.

Virgin Media's EPG has been updated again and now shows listings for Sony Crime Channel from next Tuesday so looks like Sony and Virgin Media have finally come to an agreement. Nothing announced on the website but given how unprofessional everything Sony have done so far it's not surprising!

According to the Sky EPG, Sony Channel, True Ent, True Crime and TruTV are all showing the same schedule from 21:00 to 0:15 on Tuesday, then go back to their own thing.

Digiguide's listings for True Crime end on Friday 9 February.

Sony Crime Channel 2 already appears to be broadcasting in the True Crime space on Freeview this morning. Although given all of the trailers they're airing are promoting Sony Crime Channel as being on Freeview 60, I'm going to assume this is only a temporary setup for today that'll swap over for the simulcast tonight.

Didn't have much time to grab some captures this morning, but here's a few videos of what's currently going out...

On Freeview, yes. Sony Crime (1) is currently broadcasting in the clear on satellite.
