I think a certain radio presenter in the North of England may be trouble for saying the following live last night....

"How do you solve a problem like Maria? Easy- I fancy the Nazi's to win this one."

Well it made me laugh, but not his management I think.

Well, that's entertained me far more than the programme ever would!

If the BBC wanted a singing talent show for Saturday nights why not resurrect Fame Academy which at least would have a broader appeal and not just be all based around one character in one musical which half the country can't stand!

It's a real shame that one of the most talented presenters on TV a couple of years ago has now been relegated to hosting pretty formulaic programmes even Dale Winton wouldn't touch!

Hmm...I bet Dale Winton would leap at the chance of presenting such a programme if he were offered a saturday night primetime show - and he does host Celebrity Fit Club!

It is a formulaic programme, but he does also host The Bigger Picture which is a bit more akin to his older fare. Quite a good programme, too. I don't think ITV would have suited him, and it seems Channel 4 weren't really interested.

Here's a little bit of info for you to mull over.

Much is being made of the sing-along aspect of this show, and indeed "Singalonga..Sound of Music" has become a very popular format used in cinemas and theatres around the county.

For those who haven't experienced it, it involves the motion picture of the musical being shown to an audience with the subtitles overlaid, and (usually) a local celebrity hosting the evening from the edge of the screen. Although it has been extended to "Grease" and other films, "The Sound of Music" is where it all started.

I met the man who developed this idea into "Singalonga... Productions", and later sold it to an american gentleman, who has made a large success out of it.

As I understand it, that gentleman was Graham Norton's partner.
