Channel took their feed from Meridian by 1999 in any case, not Westcountry.

They did, (via a receive site at Cherbourg), however the Alderney receive site (that received South West regional TV from Stockland Hill) was retained, a: As a standby source, and b: Because BBC 1 and 2 continued to be sourced from there. Therefore Channel could still on occasion show TSW/Westcountry 'exclusive' local progs etc.

Possible that the Westcountry feed was retained as a backup?

It was, see above Cool

Could have saved a lot of hassle disrupting the regional pace Aussie shows - episodes had to be dropped or repeated as viewers were shunted onto TVS pace.

Yes, which is why I’m wondering how they managed to broadcast it if indeed they did so. Does anyone have access to TV listings (from a newspaper or magazine) for that day?

It'd be interesting to find out. (It was 11 August 1999.) Some other ITV listings info was posted on page one by 623058, see below.

Whatever happened, the whole ITV network had a few minutes of live coverage of the eclipse AFAIK, so Channel had at least that much. (As linked earlier, ITV added it at fairly short notice.)

ITV england took a film called "Lost in Yonkers" Alas this was the period were half the ITV companies just didn't care about its daytime line up with This morning off the air.

Up north there had local programme called Summer Discovery Ie scottish this morning type thing.

Westcountry line up that morning
09.25 Eclipse! the Final Countdown,
10.30 Eclipse live
11.30 Video Tech Eclipse Special
