It seems ITV have done much better - extending their 11.55am bulletin and going live to both the Old Bailey AND Soham.

Anna Ford in the BBC1 11.58am Summary tried and failed to go to John Brain at the Old Bailey and carried on with other news!

What did any one else notice?

News 24 had their reporter outside the Old Bailey reading out the verdicts as they happened at 11:58. Doubt they could have got there any quicker.

BBC1 are now simulcasting News 24 but waited until after the verdicts were announced.

ITV1's special programme were first with the news on terrestrial. Nicholas Owen and Mark Austin are the big names involved and special blue 'breaking news' captions are being used. This is not a simulcast by the way as Sasha Herriman is also breaking the news over on the ITV News Channel

Pretty much all the news networks got the verdicts out as quick as other - but Sky News did get one of the verdicts concerning Maxine Carr wrong - but I suppose trying to commentate live on air and listen to the verdicts.

It seems BBC News 24 have Chris Eakin in Soham, just for show. Haven't been channel flicking to be honest, so no doubt there are other correspondents but really it's not neccessary. Are they going to do The Day Today and ask people their opinions all day ?

Sky News cut back from their break after just one ad, as soon as they were called back into court. The astons appeared on screen pretty much ther split second she revealed the verdicts, she got Carr's verdict slightly muddled thinking it was a not guilty on all three, but soon corrected herself. And once she was done, they did not wait at all to reveal previous investigations on Huntley.

Sky really got their stuff planned for after the verdict with this sex allegations thing... I'm now (12:14) watching a report on it that they've probably been waiting to show for months. Have News 24 touched this yet?

No - Sky News have JT in Soham, and ITV News have Mark Austin, and I wouldn't be surprised if BBC1 Nationals ship out George Aligiah and Huw Edwards for the 6 and 10 respectively.

[andrew type comment] Notice how it's only the BBC on BBC Two and BBC Parliament covering PMQ's!

Just look at all the exclusives the BBC have with this story, and they can start using them now the verdicts have been released, videos of Ian Huntey being interviewed by police,, in-depth interviews, and some are being watermarked in the top right hand corner with the BBC News logo.

I saw one of videotape, yeah, but the stories themselves are hardly exclusive. Sky are already asking how Huntley could have been employed at a school with those allegations.

They are exclusives, at least physically, as they were billed as such by the presenters and correspondents. BBC will know of these alligations, and will have reports ready for them, they probably just have a pecking order to go through.

Interestingly, both BBC and ITV News have been interviewing the same girl who has told a different version of the same story.

I taped this on BBC1 - I actually intended to tape Bargain Hunt and Cash in The Attic Embarassed

Ironic really that they showed that Cash In The Attic next about 3 times and only when the Ident came up they announced there was a change of programme

Wonder how long they will be showing this - Don't want to miss Neighbours Laughing
