ITV has axed Soapstar Superstar because they claim it has reached a natural conclusion. Excuse me, explain why it received audience figures of 7 million this year.
Well, that's ITV for you. Once again...you have let us down...BIG TIME!
Because it was crap and had run out of what little steam it had in the first place. I say well done to them, more channels could do with axing tired formats before they run them into the ground.
Although I'm sure ITV will replace it with something equally as crap.

You're attacking them for axing it? It was rubbish and ITV would do well to have less of this kind of programming.
This show had very good ratings, and I say well done to ITV for axing it, as it ends on a high, instead of flogging it to death.
Soapstar Superchef on the other hand was just utter p*sh!
Soapstar Superstar wasn't commissioned on merit, but solely for the purpose of challenging Celebrity Big Brother - and it did pretty well at it's job.
However, perhaps ITV have finally realised in their battle with Big Brother it's generally their dramas which offer more competition than any reality show they can dream of!

You are missing the point that surely there can't be that many good singers in the soaps. If you were a soap actor who wasn't chosen for the first series or the second series then you obviously can't sing
Not sure why there is a big fuss about it not coming back, nobody ever said it would be a permanent fixture
Im not really surprised by this news to be honest. This show had a shelf life. I agree with Andrew that only so many soap stars could have good enough voices to participate in this show.
The only downside is that this was one of the few live shows with a huge audience that is made in the Granada Manchester studios these days. Mind you I applied for tickets for the last series and didnt hear back, got tickets for Soapstar Superchef though when I applied for that (I was in the audience for episode 14!)
Different show, but not worth a new thread, but I noticed Applause Store have tickets for the "live" shows of Britain's Got Talent and their initial dates are something like the 14/15/16/17 June - so are ITV running it over consecutive nights rather than on Saturday nights?

Wouldnt be surprised if they were. ITV do tend to run summer shows over consecutive nights e.g. Celebrity X Factor (or whatever it was called) was. Saturday nights dont tend to have much during the summer months.
