Well Comic Relief does Fame Academy average around 8 Million so it's certainly not impossible, that was on every night for a certain number of days. I watched the last half hour tonight and I thought the format of it wasn't too bad, but there's just elements of it which are far too tacky for my liking.

Thats true about Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, it did very well for the BBC gaining over 8m nightly in 2003 & 2005 during its run, hence ITV making this show stripped over eight nights. 8m might be the peak audience for the Friday launch.

It was mentioned within the programme, not by the continuity announcer.

That's what I meant.

It's possible that Soapstar Superstar peaked at 8million viewers during a 15 minute period, but had a lower average rating throughout the show.

That's more likely. Peaking at 8m, averaging around 5 or 6 I'd say

Pad it's nothing personal, but I think people are questioning the audience figures because a show this bad doing so well just makes you wonder about the general public. Very Happy

lol yeah, well to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the show. I think it's badly named and also very unorigninal in some respects.

pad, what unoriginal aspects are evident in your opinion? I feel its very The X Factor meets some elements of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. Ben & Fern are okay but not a patch on Cat Deeley and Paddy Kielty on the BBC show, Kielty AKA; peoples least favorite entertainment host.

Yes you're right, though it's definitely more X Factor-esque. The whole VT clip, followed by performance, then judges comments, followed by performer's chance to "reply", followed by "you have to save them and the only way you can is to vote" etc...

Its obvious from the camera shots that The X Factor live studio director Jonathan Bullen is the director on Soapstar. Using the whiteout background with the sparkles around the actors faces is totally X Factor. The main Fame Academy simularity is the circular stage floor.

Really???? I have never known an announcer give out the ratiings ..ever! how amazing !!!! anyone else catch that?

Although in this case it wasn't the announcer, a BBC One announcer felt the need to tell us that 10 Million of us had tuned into Little Britain the previous week. Two weeks later and Doc Martin is whooping it's backside, maybe bragging about it jinxed it.

Or maybe I'm A Celebrity sort of helped. Embarassed Laughing

Putting it against Doc Martin jinxed it, had it stayed on Friday nights with little competition I think it would have done better. The Christmas Eve show did very well.

But it won't be. BBC programmes don't have sponsors. As I'm sure you already know.
