Cilla shouldn't be on this show. Yes its great to see her back on ITV but....per-lease! Cilla needs her own show!
Yes it seemed dire tripe and the ITV2 show with Middlemissmuffet and that Duncan 'I just read the cue cards' James is not even worth commenting on!
Also, Is Sammy Winward unwell? She looked very skinny and pale.

I tuned in to the ITV2 show out of curiosity - must be the worst hour of television I've ever seen in my whole life. Full of technical faults and late cues and it really felt like the whole team had run out of ideas for the show after 10 minutes.
Shame, as at the start they had Jayne Middlemiss walking through the big corridor at Quay Street.
Probably the worst moment was "Slam Dunc" drawing a pair of testicles onto a penis that Andy Whyment drew on a picture board saying that as it was after the watershed the audience wouldn't care.

Watched for 30 mins before Big Brother - it was awful!
Fern has obviously never held a mic before, and the whole thing was just too cosy. Did SYCO make it - alot of similarities with The X Factor, especially in the VT segments.
If ITV wanted a celebrity singing show why not go for Celebrity Idol?

I can see why people think this might have been made by Syco, it is VERY similar to the X Factor, I almost couldn't believe how similar it was. Same studio, similar set-up. Granada more or less copied the show.
I don't like the set at all, and I hate the way the screens set in the stage are not rounded, so you get the jagged-edge effect. I also don't like the presenting duo of Ben and Fern - as much as I love her I reckon it would have suited either Ben on his own or indeed Cilla.
The judges - who are they again?! They should be well known faces for a show like this and not people who the public know very little about (with the exception of Cilla, of course). Don't like the way Cilla praises everyone either - seems a litle fake and she goes over the top sometimes.
The voting is very strange, viewers only have about 2 minutes to register their votes! What a wasted opportunity to raise money for charity. I also don't like the way we have to wait until the next show to see who is going.

All I know is that Chris Cowey used to be Exec Producer of Top of the Pops, before Andi Peters.
Thought the show was awful - nothing less than I expected! (and that was only from watching 2 minutes - which was enough!!) But then I couldn't stand X Factor either, so it wasn't aimed at me...

Ok...Perhaps 2 minutes was a slight understatement, but I switched over about 10 minutes in, and what little I saw of it was enough. That's not the point, though. I only flicked over out of a perverse desire to see how awful it was. I never expected to have my opinion about such programmes turned around - I just don't enjoy watching this type of show anyway.
I don't have a problem with the fact that some people like this sort of programme, but what I do have a problem with is the way that ITV are squeezing this format for every last penny they can get. It's barely, what, 3 weeks since X Factor finished, and already they are filling the schedules with yet another Pop Idol clone. It demonstrates a lack of imagination and a lack of thinking, and frankly is why I hardly ever find anything worth watching on ITV these days.

All these people saying they only watched 2 mins, 5 mins etc, you're all lieing. For a start Cilla didn't come out till about 10 mins in, and the first act was about 10 mins after that!

It would be far more watchable than what I can only describe as a truly horrific show. But then that was clear from the opening credits. Who ever thought that was a decent theme tune needs to be sacked. Quickly. And I won't even comment on the dancing soapstars.
Anyway, I naturally switched off at 9pm for CBB. Far more polished than this show will ever be. When ITV get it right, they get it oh so right. But when they get it wrong, they get it very, very wrong. Is this the first flop of 2006?
