I think it might do quite well for ITV actually, as rubbish as the programme sounds.

I think you might be right. The whole concept sounds quite 'safe' to me unlike Celebrity Wrestling.

Nice to see you on the telly again last night too. Very Happy

You could say the same about another Fern - Ms Britton.

I thought that's the Fern we were talking about:

According to Fern Britton, on ITV's This Morning programme today, her and Ben Shephard will be the presenters of Soapstar Superstar.

Silly me - I thought you meant Fearne Cotton for some reason - probably the TOTP/music association.

I dunno, maybe it's sufficiently like X Factor et al and Stars In Their Eyes to pull the viewers in.

I expect its also gonna be very like the BBC and Endemol hit Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, which proved a massive ratings success in 2003 and again in 2005. ....I think that this is an ITV version of that show but without the judges and student vote to save the celebs.

At least Fern's not a shadow of her former self. Quite the opposite in fact!

Reading in the TV guides how there adding an extra element to make it an "original" format. The voted off contestant from the previous show will join the judging panel.

Incidentally I notice it's being made at Quay Street which I found rather susprising, anyone know why this is?

Not everything has to be made in the London Studios you know. Smile

Absolutely, I think it's great that they're making it up here but it just seems quite rare for a primetime show such as this to be made outside of London, which is why I wondered if there was a specific reason for it. A friend of mine received a mailout offering tickets but unfortunately I couldn't make any of the recordings.

It's going to become more and more frequent I reckon, with the prices of studios in London going up and up, companies are going elsewhere to keep budget costs down.

Lucky then that ITV didn't sell off its big studios in Nottingham, Birmingham and Newcas... oh wait a minute...

The London Studios is becoming more and more like Granada Studios...
