Michael Kelpie is lined up to work on the new Soapstar Superchef for ITV1
Quote:
Prospect Pictures' Michael Kelpie has left the independent to join ITV Productions' entertainment department.

Kelpie is being lined up to work on new daily cookery show Soapstar Superchef for ITV1. He was previously series editor of ITV1's Saturday Cooks at Prospect, having previous worked on BBC One's Saturday Kitchen and Top of the Pops.

Soapstar Superchef, due to air in the spring, will be filmed in front a live studio audience and with two soap actors cooking to win the taste buds of a judging panel, with minimal instruction from celebrity chefs.

The series is being produced by Simon Marsh and was commissioned by ITV controller of daytime Liam Keelan.

Taken from DS, so many thanks to them!

Funny how it's always a "live studio audience". Wouldn't be a dead studio audience, would it?

Well, apart from Countdown! Twisted Evil

The audience probably will probably died of embarrasment by the time they have finished filming this new show! Laughing

More news on this show today in the papers.

Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), Malcolm Hebden (Norris Cole), Hayley Tamaddon (Delilah Dingle), Anne Charleston (Madge Bishop) have signed up so far apparently. Two couples will cook the dish of the day in 30 minutes, watched by expert judges.

They will be trained by top chefs like, yes you've guessed it Anthony Worral Wotsit and Keith Floyd.

I'd say over the last few years only a few celeb shows have really worked for ITV - Dancing on Ice and I'm a Celeb and possibly Soapstar Superstar.

Don't forget about Celebrity X-Factor and World Idol (which counts because the contestants were all quasi-celebrities in their home countries).

So how exactly did Celebrity X Factor work for ITV - it rated far lower than the regular series and generally ITV have done better in competition with original dramas than any reality format.

And as for World Idol - it was so successful there hasn't been another one since - and Pop Idol was axed as well!

Hmm, perhaps ITV are training up Richard Arsehold to be new host of X Factor. If that happens....just send me to the slaughter.
