Soaps are getting in the way of decent television

Personally I would love to see the back of Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Neighbours and Home and Away. What soap or soaps would everyone else on here like to see the back of?

I would like to see the back of any soap that isn't used in the bath or shower to make you smell nice.

British Soaps either need to become proper dramas, bring them down to 1 hour long episode a week and have it well funded - think The Bill, Spooks etc.. or they need to be moved to daytime shows.

I voted for Eastenders

We need the lower budget soaps to counterbalance the higher budget dramas, and the really low budget auctioning programmes

I would vote for less programmes instead of actually getting rid of programmes themselves.

Drop the Friday edition of EastEnders, drop Emmerdale down to four days (Mon to Thur) and limit Corrie to just three episodes a week (Mon, Wed & Fri), the latter is suffering dramtically with all the pointless episodes and is looking very jaded of late.

TVF - so less ruthless than me then - I would personally keep the general premise of the show - ie a drama based around people living in the East end of London but have it on one day a week - an hour at a time.

Or a drama based on a street in Manchester but again an hour a week (one episode).

I agree all the way BUT I hope we don't go the same way as the US, as those soap run in real time , the drag on forever and there all rich and boring.

we need to axe that shelly storyline in corrie (I don't watch it but it getting on my mind)

why can't we axe them all bring back CROSSROAD, no not the new the old one with the wobaly sets, and good storylines I think?
