I don't think soaps should be banned at christmas time, if they were to be banned at xmas time they should replace it with something better, rather than the usual crap they show!!!

I absolutely agree with you. Cliffhangers are non existant these days, because we know we're going to find out the next episode, whereas with drama series, we have to wait until the next series to find out what happens next. I'd love to have that in Coronation Street, but the chances of ITV ever doing that are slim to none, and slim just left town.

With all the spoilers in the press and internet, would cliffhangers in a show like Corrie really work? I mean, I knew about the Katy/Tommy storyline and what happened to Katy about three months ago.

Well, that's another issue all together - but plots can be kept secret - look at Shameless. One of the central characters left in the middle of series 2 and despite it airing on E4 a week earlier, you didn't know he was leaving until a few minutes before his last screen appearance. At one point you were also under the impression the whole cast were leaving - and because of the shock of just Steve going it was plausible they could go!

Back on topic - anyone see Points of View yesterday with the complaints about Doctors disappearing from the afternoon schedule for a couple of weeks. This was due to a break in filming when they changed sets, but the fans didn't like it!

As for what could be shown instead - the pre-watershed slots makes it difficult but nowadays so many great dramas just get one screening on their network, so it be nice if at the end of the year they repeated some of their flagship programmes from the year - and perhaps even a handful of classic episodes of the soap from the past 12 months or some special behind-the-scenes type programmes.

As for other programmes - for a start I'd replace Emmerdale with Harry Hill's TV Burp Review of the Year!
