So what do you watch on TV nowadays - are you a soap-a-holic, 24 hour news junkie or just high on late night five?

I tend to watch alot less TV now than I did a few years ago. With no breakfast show to my tastes on the screens at the moment generally the first thing I'll watch is the Lunchtime News. The TV then tends to be off until Hollyoaks - the only soap that is actually entertaining - but may tune into C4 at 6pm for the likes of Your Face or Mine and BBLB (but no more Friends, please!!!).

As it gets into the main soap zone I generally watch if they're is nothing else on, or nothing better to do, but for a major story (or a minor story the others won't cover) I'll catch C4 News. Malcolm in the Middle is also a must watch, and I've somehow become addicted to The Bill in the last year despite avoiding it completely for the last decade or so.

At the moment I'm only hooked on a couple of things - Teachers, the funniest thing on TV, and That'll Teach 'em - makes you glad your not 40 years older!!! The repeats of Phoenix Nights are also must see TV, but My New Best Friend - which looked brilliant on paper - is a big dissapointment.

Brookside is still an entertaining watch - depending on the episode - but it'll end not a moment too soon. Can't stand the plaque of Bargain Hunt style programmes on our screens at the moment, while the daytime house makeover shows are poor.

However, the 4 Homes programmes are very good - entertaining and informative, as well as inspiring. These are generally well produced and treat the viewers with intelligence.

My main irritation at the moment is repeats (of repeats of repeats). Only Fools and Horses, The Vicar of Dibley, Fawlty Towers and even Friends - funny the first 467 times, but 468 is asking too much. Also, I wish the BBC imparticular would repeat classic series in order, not random episodes to fill the schedule.

Well, if you've had the patience to read through that, well done. Didn't open this thread to share my views, but I wanted to know yours - surely everyone here doesn't watch BBC News 24 all day!!!

For me as I have been off for two and a half months, it goes like, I get up late, watch Granada News and Weather at 10.55, switch to watch Terry and Gaby, then watch News At Noon, then flick between the ITV Lunchtime News and Cheers, then I am usually out by this time anyway, if I am in I catch North West Today at 1.30pm, then I don't watch anything until Countdown, then I switch to E4 for Friends, then to either ITV1 or C4 at 6pm, 7pm is tricky as I either watch a tape, I am out or I watch The Simpsons or Dilbert, then it's Corrie, then nothing for a while, then at 11pm ish I go on the Internet, mess with the PC until 1am, then I am back watching either ITV1, C4, Five or Men and Motors, then I go to bed. Though I don't spend all day watching, I do go out and weekends can differ.

Well I catch half an hour of Breakfast (8am) before I leave the house, and when I come back I somtimes watch Pet Rescue and 15 to 1. The set stays switched off for most of the evening unless there's a good documentary on. I like to watch Horizon in particular. I somtimes watch the ITV News at 10 and Tyne Tees News before the Late Film on BBC One, which I watch in bed and fall asleep to (the TV is on a timer to go off at 1am). I also try and catch Locally made programmes, especially TTTV Productions.
Weekends, I watch only the ITV News and Sport at 5-6pm and the Late Film (BBC One) on Saturdays, and usually nothing except the Late film on Sundays.

As I can't recieve five, or any Digital Services (including Sky), I'm hardly spoilt for choice.

In the mornings, I watch about 30 minutes of TRL from 7:30 til 8:00. Then for about 10 minutes watch bid-up.tv or price-drop before going to school.
Then bid-up is on non-stop from 4:00 to whenever I go to bed (2amish)
During teatime I watch Takeshi's on Challenge

How thrilling...

How on earth can you watch Bidup.TV for so long? Not taking the mick here, I'm geniunely interested to see how you can!

Anyway...

Because of the nature of my job I work afternoon/evenings, so I normally get up at about 10am and watch The Wright Stuff, then if I'm still in after that I'll watch Five News at 12... Other than that I usually tape The SImpons at 6pm, and CSI Miama on Five and any other must watch series when I'm at work (such as Monkey Dust (well when it was on) and soon to be Little Britian - you get the idea)... I got into an annoying habit of watching the Weakest Link on BBC2 over Xmas when bored at work, but I've luckily managed to lose that!!

When I get in from work I'll watch a bit of News 24 just to get up to date, and then watch Five's late night sport, or BBC Three until it's bed time! Smile

When off work I normally just channel surf between BBC One, Five and BBC Three all evening. Or go out, which is a much better way to spend my time!

You have got to be kidding ?! Shocked Confused

I can't really stand any shopping/auction channel and they are definite turn offs (so to speak) for me.

No joke - I'm actually working on my own version of the price-drop music right now to use in my simulator of it.

Well I am a fan of bid-up and catch it at times if Andy Hodgson or Peter Simon are on, but don't you think you are taking your obsession a bit too far ?
