L&k was on its way out from 1999 onwards. It was still dire and its replacement the Saturday show set the industry back years.

Live and Kicking was not on it's way out. It was all down to Nigel Pickard.

Clearly was, the ratings were poor and when it went to Scotland it become a whole different show.

It was a tragic mess by then. When the presenters boarded the bus and Katy Hill waved them off at Television Centre, that right there should've been the end.

I was very upset when Katy didn't join the others for final few months. It's all thanks to Nigel Pickard and I still stand by the fact that SM:TV was a crap show and I hope it never comes back.

L&K in 1999 needed to modernise and find a duo that worked together as well as Andi & Emma and Zoe & Jamie did. They didn't.

Zoe & Jamie jumped at the perfect time as if they stayed on for another series then I don't think their legacy on the programme would be as fondly remembered as it is now.

Then cue the revamp which by that point the audience was already lost, and tried too hard to be cool. And the death bell tolled for Live & Kicking.

Nigel had no say in what Glasgow did. Also didnt katy have a kid and thus did not want to travel or move?

There are far, *far* worse people in television than Nigel Pickard. Smile Wink

Some may even argue that L&K should have ended in '99, having by that stage run for six years - as long as Swap Shop and Going Live!, and slightly longer than Superstore - and having had two presenter line-ups (three, if you count John Barrowman in the first series).

But as our own Steve Williams wrote on Off The Telly back in 2001, "it was decided to continue with the programme, perhaps in the thought that the brand was more important than the presenters, and perhaps because it was felt that the new presenters would be able to refresh the series, much as Zoe and Jamie had".

In that case, no children's television programme *ever* - not even Blue Peter and Grange Hill - should have attracted adults...

. . . I still stand by the fact that SM:TV was a crap show and I hope it never comes back.

That's your opinion of course. Opinions are not facts. SM:TV might still return for a one-off anniversary special.

A fact is a statement that can be proven true or false. An opinion is an expression of a person's feelings that cannot be proven.
Opinions can be based on facts or emotions and sometimes they are meant to deliberately mislead others. Therefore, it is
important to be aware of the author's purpose and choice of language.

SM:TV did end up in a bit of a mess towards the end granted, but I still loved watching it regardless.

That's why SM:TV was not worth watching and that Live and Kicking was way better.
